Read this on dvdfile.com...

A little late with this one, but streeting today from Excite-DVD is the infamous, finally-arriving-on-DVD documentary Exhausted, aka "The John Holmes Story." This must-see was the inspiration behind P.T. Anderson's Boogie Nights (some would say Anderson's "liberal" lifting from Exhausted borders on plagiarism) and this DVD features the uncut version of Julia St. Vincent's insightful ode to Holmes.

You Boogie Nights fans may recall that New Line was originally going to include a condensed half-hour version of Exhausted on the two-disc Boogie Nights reissue they released last August, and though some early review samples included the doc, it was dropped from the final product amid much talk of rights issues and other problems.

Check out the Excite-DVD website for more info on how to get it, and dig that great packaging!

I'm delighted to hear that Exhausted is finally being released on DVD. Even better news is the fact that those clowns from Caballero won't be involved.

It's slightly unclear to me from reading Excite-DVD's website exactly which company is releasing this title. None of the other on-line stores appear to know anything about it, so what's the story? Are Excite running their own video label or is Julia St. Vincent distributing the DVD herself? The packaging shown looks completely fake to me.

It was strange that this never came to fruition considering that the Laserdisc version of Boogie Nights already had this condensed version on it long before the DVD was ever released.

Exhausted is being released by a new company called MG Media. It is run by Mara Epstein who used to run icandy with another person. After icandy's offices were burglarized, they parted ways and she formed a new company. Exhausted is their first release (the copy you see at excite-dvd was promo copy they sent to them). I have been told that it will be readily available at most sites by the end of this month. There will be extra audio by Julia St. Vincent, Bob Chinn, and Gloria Leonard, along with an interview with John Holmes and a diary belonging to Ms. Vincent.
This should be good, as icandy has pretty decent transfers and I hope that MG Media continues to do the same.

M.B.,

Thanks for the clarification. This sounds very promising indeed and I hope MG Media have better luck than iCandy did.

Great. I can't wait!

I've also got a bunch of related questions if anyone knows the answers:
Does MG has a website? Is I-Candy gone for good? What will happen to their DVDs (are they on their way to being out of print)? Will MG release the Johnny Wadd series as I-Candy planned to? What about I-Candy's other planned releases?
Any related info would be appreciated.

icandy is still around, they just released Marilyn Chambers Private Fantasies #1 on dvd a few weeks ago, you should be able to find it on this web site's price search, their web site is: www.icandvd.com
I emailed them to find out whether they will still be releasing the dvd's they had planned on before they were burglarized, and they told me that they are going to release the Marilyn Chambers Private Fantasies series first (#1 is already out), and they are working on getting the masters for the other feature titles that were stolen from them, but they did not tell me which specific titles (I'm also hoping it's the Johnny Wadd stuff), that was a while ago so you might want to try and email them and ask.
As far as MG Media is concerned, I don't think that they have a web site yet, but I got their email address from an AVN article a while back, it's: icandvd@mediaone.net

Thanks for the info M.B. I haven't checked their site for a while and didn't know M.C's Private Fantasies #1 was out yet. That's great news!

There's a review of it posted at the official Paul Thomas Anderson website "Coffee and Cigarettes." Read it here
