Well, I was at my local video store today and noticed they got some new Extreme Associates dvds in, NightStalker and A Whores Life (old titles, but recently released on dvd).
I recalled Tom Byron saying on this message board that he was taking over the dvd department at Extreme and that the discs would improve. So, I took a chance and rented it.
The picture quality is ok, not bad but not great either. The major pixelation found on some of their older releases (most notably Ass Clowns #1) is not there.
But here's where it gets dicey.
At no point whatsoever are you able to go straight to the main menu. If you press the dvd menu button on your remote, the screen will pause for a second and continues playing, it DOES NOT take you to the main menu. This means that any time you want to go the the main menu, or for that matter any menu, you must stop the disc and start all over from the beginning.
They have also put the first chapter of the movie on the same chapter as the crappy ads at the beginning of the disc, which means that you can't select a chapter that starts at the very beginning of the movie. You have to fast forward through the ads first.
There are about 10 trailers.
There is something called a day at the Extreme offices.
And finally something every porn fan has been clamouring for and wants to see as an extra on a porn dvd:

-XPW wrestling highlights

Yes you read right, let's not bother to make sure the viewer can get to the main menu, that's not important. The important thing is that we include wrestling highlights that nobody is interested in on a porn dvd.
The more things change, the more they stay the same.

M.B., that's very disappointing to read.

Disappointing indeed.

What the hell happened over there?

I thought that the first releases they put out on DVD were the best there was, but then the extras starting slipping, the quaility went down, and my respect for their product went away.

I know I basically only liked Tommy at Extreme, love his style, love his work in general. But I can't bring myself to buy another DVD if what I'm getting now, doesn't match what I saw then.

I always thought that studios started relatively bad, then got good, but this is not the case with Extreme Associates.

I know first hand not to believe anything Byron says but I still wish someone at Extreme would do a better job with the DVD releases. They have some good titles which should be released on DVD the right way, a title like Days of Whore: The Directors cut comes to mind and all movies with Veronica Caine in it.

I think alot is happening in that company right now. I have a feeling that the company will have to retool lots of things and if they don't they are in danger of going out of business. Other than Tom Byron's releases I don't see anything from Extreme that competes with the big gonzo companies. Why would you buy a dvd from Extreme when you could buy a dvd of much much higher quality from Evil Angel, Anabolic/Diabolic, Red Light District or DVSX. I hope they fix the problem before they release Extremely Yours Jessica Darlin on DVD.

If those highlights are the moments with Rob Black getting his ass kicked and face bloodied, then it IS worth a look! Yipee!

Ha-ha, good one, Planet.
D-M, as usual, we're on the same page. Extremely Yours Jessica Darlin is a great, great movie (arguably Jessica's absolute best). Thanks for reminding me of it, D-M.

Now im even more exited about the dvd release Pontus. Ive never seen any of the scenes on it. I can't believe that none of the movies after Jessica's comeback haven't been released on dvd yet. Anabolic/Diabolic is driving me nuts! So far there are 3 titles with her that haven't been released yet(I know you know about the first 2).

1)A2M (with Layla Jade and someone very lucky)
2)Ass Creampie (with someone very lucky)
3)2 on 1 #14 (with Melanie Jagger and Lex)

Im hoping she is going to be in Sweet Cheeks 3 and/or the next edition of Nasty Nymphos. Anabolic hasent given a cast list on these releases. Im also waiting for two in the seat 3 from RLD with Jessica. How much longer are we goiing to be waiting?

Extreme Associates already has (more than) three strikes with me and I serious doubt I will ever rent or purchase another Extreme Associates or Armageddon DVD.
