I was at the video store today and saw "Lexington Steele Stars In Metal Up Your Ass" on the shelf. This title had only been available on vhs up until now so I rented it only to find that it's a DVD-R. The graphics on the disc aren't even printed/painted on, it's a sticker instead. You can also tell it's a DVD-R because the disc is purple on the side where the player reads it. There are no extras except for a few trailers. Don't these companies realize that a lot of viewers don't want DVD-R's and refuse to purchase any discs that are DVD-R's (including me). Thye only company I knew of that was using these was VCX, but they switched back to factory pressed discs a while ago. Edited by - M.B. on Oct 7 2004 [Link] |

So ... why do EXTREME ASSOCIATES that ?????

It has copyright Extreme 2.0 on the disc. It's a sticker label, but it definitely looks like it was made by someone at Extreme. The dvd cover looked as original as it gets. It's a legit dvd. Looks like Extreme is cutting corners to save $, no surprise there. It's probably much cheaper to burn your own discs and make the sticker label yourself than it is to have them factory pressed. The drawback is that it costs quite a bit to set up to make that first disc. Perhaps Extreme doesn't have the cash for the setup fee to do a run of pressed DVDs. Or perhaps they think the volume is low enough that DVD-R will be cheaper in the end. [Link] |
