The log gives me that money MS error code hex 5. Some research on the net (and MS) says it's probably due to faulty permissions in the Registry. Every example I've seen shows specific registry keys that are write-protected. But my log simply denies authorization to change the registry. Here's the relevant bit from the IE7 install log: 51.453: DoInstallation: Installing assemblies with source root path: i:\ac85810e329803f4efa5f9f9b651.453: Num Ticks for Copying files : 12219 59.234: DoRegistryUpdates:UpdSpInstallFromInfSection Failed for ProductInstall.GlobalRegistryChanges.Install error: hex 5 59.234: INF_REGISTRY Failed 59.234: DoInstallation:DoRegistryUpdates failed 59.297: Access is denied. I tried running a script with a system tool that was supposed to go through the registry and change all the keys back to Admin as described here. I did it. IE7 still bombs. I *am* the admin on this machine and there's only one account (mine). I'm at a loss. I can't find anything on the net that addresses my problem. Advice anyone? [Link] |
