It's a joke: the poster assumes that one's attention will be so focused on the buns that he will never even notice anything else in the photograph - I'm immune! ~ GS

Ohh, because I definatly noticed the boat right away, and they said that if I look for couple of seconds then I will see it.

Open source means you get the code, whether it is C++, PHP, ASP, whatever was used to write the program.

There are different licenses for open source software, but one of the most popular is the GPL, or GNU General Public License, which basically says you can use the code and change it, but you must redistribute your changes.

The BSD license, in contrast, does not require you to release your changes, and you may resell your changes as a new, proprietary product.

Open Source is a wonderful thing which has brought us things like 7-zip (a free compression/decompression utility which supports ZIP, RAR, BZ2, TAR, GZIP, etc.), databases like MySQL and PostgreSQL, programming languages like Perl, PHP, and Python, and too many things to mention in this post!

I am an avid user and developer of open source solutions. I have run PHP-based forums, use a PHP-based webmail client called Squirrelmail (there is not much you can't do with PHP + MySQL + Apache on Linux or FreeBSD -- IMHO the world's most reliable, stable, robust, fault-tolerant enterprise-class operating system which runs the likes of Yahoo and Hotmail!).

Although I don't take advantage of being able to modify the source to my liking, by FAR the most used open source application in my home is Virtual Network Computing (VNC).
