Hey there - if I haven't expressed this before, let me start by saying Jamie Gillis is my all time favourite male performer, so suffice to say I was completely blown away when I watched Babyface 2 a couple of days ago. Jamie's performance in that film left me awe-struck by its sheer audacity. To me, no one but Jamie Gillis can quite pull of this mixture of charisma, psychosis, and sex appeal all wrapped up in "the devil incarnate," as one reviewer describes him. So, my question: what is your all-time favourite Jamie Gillis moment? It doesn't have to be the best film he's been in, but your favourite scene/moment/line/glance, or whatever you choose. P.S. I guess this should be in Star Crossed or Polls, but I felt it's most loving home would be in Features.
The Gillis flick that I know best is 800 FANTASY LANE; he's all over the place in that one. His twisted scene at the end of BARBARA BROADCAST, an outake from Misty Beethoven, resonates with me, too. I highly recommend his fantasy sequence in MIDNIGHT DESIRES along with the rest of that flick. And for lagniappe, check out his over the top stuff in SATURDAY NIGHT SPECIAL, a cheapie that's more of a sadistic film noir a la David Lynch than xxx flick. For whatever it matters, to my mind this thread does belong in Features if for no reason than Jamie Gillis is perhaps the best actor in porn history, from a time when acting truly mattered in porn, not just the ability to fuck on camera. I always thought he had a really great voice, and was certainly more handsome than better-known stars such as John Holmes or Ron Jeremy. He deserves all the appreciation we can give him. While I've liked just about everything I've seen him in, including New Wave Hookers and Baby Face 2, my favorite Gillis performance is another DeRenzy-directed movie, Virgin Dreams. Gillis plays a high-school teacher who Hypnotizes his students to become sex-crazed "little sluts." While he only has two sex scenes, one with Nyrobi and one with Suzi Suzuki, his presence is seen throughout the movie, as in a classroom where he Hypnotizes Stephanie Swift and Nico Treasures. That video was advertised on the back cover of practically every men's magazine of the time and seemingly for months. I never saw it tho - none of the video stores I rented from back then ever had a copy. Always liked Kandi Barbour.

Those two weren't it. If I remeber right the scene came from a movie where a bunch of guys, a politician, preacher (Jamie Gillis) and someone else were trying to get sex banned. Yeah, he lost a guy that doesn't respect the wishes of the girl he is working with. Tricia Devereaux repeatedly asked him to stop talking about her boyfriend (or husband) during their scene, but Jamie persisted, asking her to talk into the camera to him. Not saying that one scene defined him as a person, but I doubt it was an isolated incident.

Jamie Gillis has passed away, confirmed by reliable sources like Carter Stevens. My all-time favourite sex scene with him would have to be the scenes with Serena in Ecstasy Girls. My favourite performance is in Waterpower, particularly his reaction when he sees his first enema.

The two that stand out for me were his Non Sex cameo roles. The first is in John Leslie's Dog Walker! A great scene between him, Christina Angel & Steven St. Croix! The other was in the 1981 film Nighthawks starring Sylvester Stallone! His scene was classic because he made Lindsay Wagner "The Bionic Woman" uncomfortable by his advances! So long Mr. Gillis! RIP! I have the Caballero DVD - it's good, pretty crisp. There are a couple of spots where there are blips in the audio, but other than that I was really happy with the quality. Others might have more insight as to whether different studios have better versions.

Thanks, but I've just noticed that it's on the "to be released" list from Wild Side Vidéo and apparently they have superior video quality, so I'll wait for that one.
I'll mention another of his films. The Seduction of Lyn Carter. This may be the most mindfucking fuck film I've ever watched. the way he manipulates Andrea True in this film as he slowly turns her life inside out is the most intense adult film I can recall. It's really a psychological thriller that only he could have pulled off.
The S&M scene. I assumed that was what was being referred to - maybe not. The two scenes work well together though, so I wouldn't want to have to choose.

IMO, the greatest adult porn film ever produced. A combination of great acting by both Jamie Gillis and Andrea True plus excellent directing by Anthony Spinelli (as Wes Brown). It's a real shame that the re-release was a terrible copy of the video tape version. In this thread I comment on the lack any attempt to produce a better quality DVD of that classic title.
