| cykedout Member Ireland 245 Posts 8/00 | I just made the first purchase on behalf of a friend of mine who doesn't have a computer and who just got a credit card. Since some of the retailers require credit card verification, we went with one that doesn't -- Five Star -- who I've dealt with in the past with no problems. However, I made a mistake with the shipment method and he may suffer for it here in Ireland -- we're not sure yet. The problem stems from the fact that he ordered EIGHT dvds for his first order (and got 2 freebies from their Treasure Chest) and when it got to the shipping option stage of the checkout process, I chose the FedEx International (Letter) option, forgetting about what was mentioned in this particular thread (and in possibly others) instead of the one I would usually use, International Mail, thinking it would be quicker -- 3 to 5 days instead of 6 to 25 -- and using the flatpak option to make the package smaller. The problem is, the package is stuck in Irish Customs at the moment (the package arrived in Ireland on THURSDAY 27TH, NOVEMBER). The FedEx Tracking option lets me know this. I don't know if they flagged it for inspection, OR for the addition of "charges" or was just plain unlucky, but, we'll have to wait and see how this plays out.... A previous discussion which mentions related information to this topic is here. Someone else mentioned that they had trouble ordering by courier post rather than standard post options. If it does turn out that the shipment is stopped, maybe Five Star should amend their shipping options to Ireland by removing the courier delivery options? If it turns out that they are susceptible to confiscation, etc???? Will let everyone know, when I get more news..... PS. It's Wednesday 1st, December and it's still sitting with Customs, so, heh!!!...... [Link] |

This to me means that 1) Five Star has identifying marks to them on the outside of the package, and I'm not sure these days also, if ordinary STANDARD POST shipping options are more likely to succeed in getting through, aswell. |

With that I can't help but highly recommend Five Star as a great company to deal with and posess a very quick and courteous Customer Service dapartment. Cheers!! |
