The vast majority of women in porn are not lesbians or even bisexual in their private life. Therefore they are gay for pay when it comes to porn and while many of them prefer to shoot g/g scenes. I suspect the main reason is because it's healthier than shooting b/g porn and women can shoot multiple g/g videos in the same week but I doubt most would be willing or able to shoot multiple b/g videos. How many g/g only performers have boyfriends/husbands at home but have been doing g/g only porn their entire career? Shyla Jennings comes to mind and I would add Georgia Jones to the list. The only g/g only performer that I know isn't into men is Lily Cade but then again she is a lesbian in her private life as well on screen. [Link]

I believe that the women who make decent to great G/G scenes are in fact "Heteromantic-Bisexuals." That is, they prefer men in their private lives for serious relationships, but also enjoy having sex with women, such as Shyla and Georgia. And I think there are a significant number of similar women. I also don't think believe that a completely straight woman can pull off a convincing G/G scene. I don't believe there are any performers that good, because I think authentic attraction to women is essential to good G/G. Which is where the Gay for Pay term is from; clearly straight performers doing horrible G/G scenes. Even women in the industry complain about them. But this does clear up the names issue, since you don't think there are actually any women in porn who are actually into women. [Link]

Even at the peak of anti-gay sentiment (and I don't think we've moved far from that) it seems that there was more acceptance of women having sex with women. So there would be less of a social stigma for a woman to have sex with a woman. Even if we are a more enlightened society these days (and I don't think we are by much) a woman who is straight could do a G/G scene and no one would bat an eye. In contrast, take Peter North, who at the beginning of his career did some gay scenes.
