This is an offshoot of the Feminist Porn thread. There have been recommendations in that thread, but they get buried with the other talk, so I figured I would start this thread for people looking for recommended films.
I'll start out with one that I love and I think qualifies as feminist porn, Shine Louise Houston's Snapshot. Snapshot is one of the few modern adult films that I've seen that you can watch as a movie, which I love. For those with a subscription to PinkLabel.TV it is available there.

Snapshot is a great movie, I love that it's somewhat of a psychological thriller and shows safe sex practices. Shine Louise Houston is one of the best directors in porn but she hasn't done a full-length movie in some time now. Another one of her movies everybody should check out is "Chemistry: eases the Pain" with Lotus Lain, Mona Wales, and Nina Hartley(non-sex role). A story about a lesbian having a bi-sexual awaking with her male chem.lab partner in college This movie is erotic but also very emotional with a very powerful and sad ending.
To me, Snapshot was just alright. I wasn't sure how the ending fit with the movie like Will eluded to in another thread, plus I didn't understand how the women in the car fit with the overall plot throughout the movie. If you're in the mood for more of a feminist porn comedy, there's "The Wedding" by Lust Cinema. It's a feel-good movie in a beautiful setting about a polyamous couple in an open relationship getting married. The groom's mother is conservative and unsupportive at first, and then she comes around. There are a diversity of sex scenes, such as g/g,b/g, group sex, and the groom with his best man. The latter isn't something they show in mainstream heterosexual porn, which is another difference between feminist porn and mainstream. In mainstream porn, they don't feature guy on guy sex scenes in the same videos as b/g scenes as far as I know. The gay genre is separate in mainstream porn, though in feminist porn guy on guy and heterosexual sex scenes can be included in the same movie.
Though the reviews on this board are lukewarm https://www.adultdvdtalk.com/movie/marriage-20 , Marriage 2.0 is one of my favorites. It's one of the few porn videos I watched more than once. I was especially drawn to it because I met some of the performers through sex worker type events. Actually, multiple performers in the video are sex worker advocates.
For people only interested in hard core gonzo with long sex scenes and close up camera angles of penetration, this video might not be your thing. However, I wasn't bothered by the shorter sex scenes or that they didn't show the sex scenes from start to the cum shot at the end. In fact, I liked how they integrated the sex scenes and ended them in creative ways. For example, the scene wehre India Summer and her boyfriend were making out in the kitchen while cooking and they apprantly forget there's food in the oven so the alarm goes off and their neighbor walks in on them. Thankfully, her boyfriend turned off the over before a full blown fire, so the ending to this scene was funny. As aside, I recognized the nieghbor because she's Carol Queen, a sexologist who I believe is also a co-founder of Good Vibrations, an organization providing adult sex education as well as female and couple-friendly sex shops in-person and online. Also, the scene where Sadie Lune walks India Summer through the house at the dinner party where they watch different types of sex acts in different rooms. I was familiar with Sadie Lune as a burlesque performer and a sex worker advocate. Sadie also does educational-type sex videos.
Yet, I understand this is a porn discussion board so the reviews consider the sex acts in addition to the plot and artistry and if the sex acts aren't shown from start to finish, that can lower the rating. The plotline was intriguing. India Summer is in a relationship with a man who is openly seeing another woman, Dylan Ryan. India and Dylan pass each other repeatedly while jogging along the San Francisco coast, though Ryan doesn't learn who India actually is until they see each other at a dinner party where their "shared" boyfriend also is. India tends to favor monogamy, yet starts considering the posibility of polyamory. Beautiful artistry and great scenery with the San Francisco backdrop. Though the sex scenes were short, there was still variety. Plus, I may get bored watching long sex scenes are start doing other things such as washing dishes, sweeping the floor, etc. with the scene playing in the background and then return when it ends. However, doing is different than watching in this sense, of course.
I gave it a five. The issue is the weighted average is 3.5 since another reviewer gave it a one, canceling out his and my number giving it the 3.5 another reviewer gave it.
Right and people can rate it how they decide. I was also considering the written comments to when referring to ratings. Out of curiousity, I just read some reviews of Candida Royalle's films (who has been credited as a forerunner of feminist porn) and most of the ratings on here are average to bad https://www.adultdvdtalk.com/director/candida-royalle There are a few 5 star ratings though, such in "Revelations"- which I agree with. This is perhaps her best film, with the powerful message of sexual suppression in society and regaining sexual freedom. The sex scenes aren't all earthshattering, though they aren't supposed to be. For example, sex between the main character and her husband was supposed to be boring because her husband bought into the propaganda of the society that sex should only be for procreation. The deliberate boring-ness of it made it interesting, if that makes any sense. A more recent video with a similiar theme and more racially diverse cast is "Road to Conquer" by Lust Cinema.
It seems that the negative reviews of Candida Royalle's films can be more personal preference, though I didn't think all her films that I saw were great either. The reviewers may just prefer something more consistent with mainstream porn, such as the hard core penetration and pop shots at the end. Also, most of the reviews of Candida Royalle's films on here seem to come from astroknight, who specifically said that Candida's Royalle's style isn't their preference. I'd say this is probably true of most porn viewers, which is why her films are more classified as alternative rather than mainstream.
^They both wrote reviews of Marriage 2.0. I don't read most of the reviews, though I was interested in how reviewers on a porn discussion site rates films that may fit into the feminist porn category. It looks like overall not as high mainly because of differences in the sex acts from the limited reviews I read on here. Something I also noticed is that reviewers don't discuss the performers' appearance/level of attractiveness as much in feminist porn reviews. Perhaps, the themes of such videos may lead the focus away from that when writing reviews and more toward plot, artistry, deeper underlying messages, etc.
I never really covered attractiveness in any of the reviews I wrote. I always tried to wrote reviews as if it were a mainstream review. I know that isn't to everyone's taste but I've always viewed adult movies as legitimate art amd tried to treat them the same as I would a mainstream film.
