I have an old vhs that is just under 84 minutes. And that's with part of the last scene edited. So 86 minutes sounds right for the unabridged version.

After the defecation sequence, everyone from the orgy dances around said scat receiver in a circle, while they (the orgy members) sing a song in unison. This sequence runs a little over ten minutes. Maybe this was cut from your disc?

The irony is that, shortly after its release, this dvd was discontinued from some online retailers (Laser's Edge comes to mind) due to "content" : in this context, I was 99% sure that the disc was unedited (even though i had no idea of the nature of the questionable material). Maybe the retailers thought they would be carrying the uncut film : obviously, they didn't even bother to check the disc...

1 hour and 25 mins sounds right for Femmes deSade. I never bought the Alpha Blue DVD because I hate edited DVDs. Thats a movie that would never be made today in the U.S., Europe thats a different matter. However you need to remember most companies just want your money, so thank god for a place like this where people can review it before you buy a edited version.

On the flip side, it has been my observation that in recent years Alpha Blue has become nothing more than a "shill" for companies like Arrow and Video-X-Pix, among others. A lot of Alpha's titles, when ordered from the official ABA website, come direct from such companies, and are the same edited versions that you can get (usually way cheaper) from other sites.

Then there are the compilations and director DVD sets. Alpha has cranked out a ton of these in the past two years. While some may think it is cool to be able to own all of Shaun Costello's (for example) films on a bundled DVD set, it sucks if you are just interested in say 2 or 3 titles and don't want to spend over a hundred dollars for the whole set. Not to mention that there was a time when Alpha Blue did carry the films on individual VHS/DVDs. However, this ceases if the film is recycled into one of the "collections".

Don't get me wrong, I still order the occasional flick from Alpha Blue. However, I think "Alpha Blue Archives" is just a name at this point. They are no longer the great purveyors of hard-to-find smut who didn’t try to blatantly screw their consumers.

ABA does step up to the plate to release some very obscure and rare titles, usually uncut, but they need to realize that not all porn is public domain. It doesn't work that way. A little research goes a long way.

Maybe I should restate what I said about Alpha Blue. When I said thats why I dont buy Alpha Blue DVD. I meant to say that is why I didnt buy this version from them that was edit, I do buy some DVDs from Alpha Blue. Its nice that these companies try to put out uncut versions when they can, but I am not one who is going to buy it unless its uncut. When these companies put out these edited DVDs, they mostly sell to people who have never seen the movie and dont know that scenes are missing from the movie. What gets me mad at these companies is sometimes they lie on the DVD cover and say uncut version, I wont name companies, but that is dam wrong.

One final thing, I live in the USA, but thank god for Europe were people can order just about any movie from the 70 and 80s on DVD uncut. Thats under thing that gets me, how do companies in Europe get better prints then companies in the USA.

Alpha Blue's Femmes de Sade VHS was uncut, btw. Seems like they are selling an edited version now to gain more distribution.

This release is on par with the Command dvds, no less...even though there are no extras (interview, commentaries).
