I think the first half of the price search overhaul is complete. You can play with it by conducting searches through the test page. I haven't finished adding all of the menus, page formatting and navigation to these test pages but they will give you a good idea.
At first glance it might seem like there's not much (if anything) new. There's a lot of new stuff going on behind the scenes. The most notable new feature are the ability to search for used, rentals and VOD/PPV in addition to new DVDs. You can also save your searches to run them later. Performance is improved especially for paging through and resorting your search results.
I've integrated Bargain Watch titles with the search as well. (This includes gay titles too which the current Bargain Watch does not.)
Please take a moment to give the new search a try. I've had some help testing it but we certainly could use a few more sets of eyes prior to integrating it with the site.
I'll be splitting up the price search item page into separate new, used, rental and VOD/PPV pages over the next couple of days.
At first I'd thought you'd meant reviews of movies with a certain number of stars (i.e. its rating from 0 to 5 stars), and looked for this feature for some time thinking I must be stupid for not seeing it - then I realised that you'd meant performers/actors (stars as in famous)...
However, adding a rating criterion might be an idea. (If not now than at some future date.)

rating criteria will be added to the new review system (next big project.) but until that's done the new advanced search offers a lot of good options for finding reviews.
blake_fan: A couple of people have made this same request via email. Unfortunately due to the way I store the data for used and new items it becomes a very complex search. I'm going to look into it to see how slow it runs. It might not be possible but I'll know for sure later today.
I put in "Karen Kam" and got two hits. Knowing she has more DVD's than that, I just put in 'Karen' without selecting any other criteria. It took me to a page with a list of Karen's to choose from. The name selection page indicated it only supports an "AND" function. It really needs to support the "OR" function as well.
Also, when I picked Karen Kam on that page and pushed the Continue Search button it returned to the main site page instead.

drew's in the middle of making this live, so there may be some errors right now.it does support the OR function, but AND is the default. if you select OR on the advanced search page, which you can access by clicking refine my search, you can choose the OR option.
Umm, I don't see "Refine My Search." There's the and/or selection on this page, but when I select OR it just goes to the 'which karen did you want' page again. Looks like it'll be a long night for Drew...
At the top of the search results there's a 'refine this search' link that will take you back to the entry page where you can tweak your selections.
To search for more than one Karen enter 'karen' in the actor's name and select the 'OR' option from the drop down list. Then when you get the intermediate page asking to specify which Karens it will default to 'or' logic.
If anyone sees anything in the new price search that looks like it might be broken or if you have any questions about the new search features please post here. And thanks to all of those who have written to us with suggestions.
