I've noticed two porn producers who seem to get an abundance of "first timers" into the mainstream DVD productions. The first, of course, is the venerable Ed Powers. Another company is "Digital Videovision" who produce a very similar series of vids of newbies called "Girls of Cumelot."

In both cases, the production values are cheap, the girls are highly inexperienced (in front of the camera anyways) and the guys themselves are definitely not what I'd call "porn studs."

So what's the story with these two players? Why do so many of the girls start here? Is it because the producers in question pay well (eg; above the norm), that they are well established as "entry level porn scenes" or simply because all the agents in the business push new talent there first?

Here's the Digital Videovision VOD site....some pretty well known names and the production values here are very poor, but he seems to get the talent.

Okaaaay......

But is your response meant to indicate that the talent starts here because these guys are the only ones willing to spend ANY money on "newbies," (which I find hard to believe given the marketspace) or that these two guys PAY better than most other "entry level" porn producers?

I mean it's like these guys are the "farm league" for the porn industry. You see new talent here, quality is low, distribution of the stuff doesn't seem all that impressive (I think Digital Videovision is VOD only), but yet...they seem to get the hot talent way before they are, indeed, "hot talent."

I've heard that Ed pays a nice "finder's fee" to agents that direct talent to him first.

Additionally, while Ed may not have been the first to shoot them, he can crank out product to market faster because he doesn't have to worry as much about production values, designing new box covers, etc., since he is building upon an established brand.

What makes Ed appealing to Joe viewer is that he is a sort of everyman...as in, "hey, that could be me". Also, Ed doesn't try to act like a porn stud - he has a self-deprecating style and sense of humor that endears him to his fans.

I'm not familiar with the other series you referenced, so I can't comment on them.

Hmmm, a "bounty" on newbies, eh? That sounds like a good theme for a new series.....
