Hustler's Asian Fever series was the first US series that I ever noticed in a big way. But, of course, I have always tended to go to the source (Japan) for my Asian girl fix.
Actually a lot of asian starred in many movies , Asian Fever just understood there was a market , but I was already a big fan of Mai Lin , Suzi Suzuki, Kristara Barrington , Kitty Jung ,Jade Marcela , Solange, Tabatha Cash and too many others to mention
But it seems that someone would have understood there was a market before Asian Fever. Didn't Asian Fever start in the 90s? I was thinking that Asian themed videos would have started in the mid 80s??
In the '80 and early '90 most of porn was Featured and made for X rated theatres and cannot sustain a niche market (meaning too many asian related movies) but Kristara Barrington and Mai Lin had their followers, but already from the '70 Color Climax Corporation was publishing some series (Rodox , Color Climax and the likes) in Super 8 and magazines some titles were asian related only, some of them were even black related only (never referred as IR there was just "black" in the title) , sometimes on black guys sometimes on black girls, I had the chance to get a catalogue and was amazed of the range of their works they even had TS movies in the '70!!!! (and Anal and Fisting go figure) Movies is too strong a word though they were roughly 8 minutes long stories , and I really mean stories ,almost features not gonzo anyway the market was a niche nobody was sure it was big enough to sustain a an Asian dedicated market and the same was for Black Market both markets exploded in late '90 especially that with blacks

I don't have an answer to the op's question but you start noticing Asian scenes popping up in something like de Rezny's FEMME DE SADE from the late 70's. Also from around that time, I remember a John Holmes flick set during WWII called PRISONER OF PARADISE where Mai Linn's character dies in an air raid but another cute Asian captor helps Holmes escape a Nazi and his hench women. ORIENTAL JADE is another feature from back in the day. In other words, if you look hard enough, you'll find some of this Asian stuff in pre-1985 features that were shot on film---tb
