Well, in keeping with the "use 'em or lose 'em" philosophy concerning coupons, I placed two orders at Five Star this week. I used, of course, the price search feature and links from this site to place the orders.
Well, order number 1 arrived two days later. They shipped it fast since everything was in stock. They sent it Priority Mail-my favorite-and used some of those inflatable air packs to secure the dvd's.
I had a problem with almost all of the dvd's coming off their hubs with this order. I don't hold Five Star responsible for that as I ordered some Caballero dvd's and they come in very cheap dvd cases. The hubs in these cases are the exact opposite of some of the ones used by Sunshine (those are extremely difficult to safely get a dvd off of). None of them appear scratched to the point where it effects play (very minor on them).
The second order hasn't come in yet-one of the titles was backordered (I found this out later) and I checked off the box "hold order until everything available" (something like that). I'm not sure if they charge you extra for separate shipments or not but I don't think so. Either way, as an educated consumer, I prefer to help them save money so they can hopefully pass on the savings to me.
So, in conclusion, they prove that they are a good place to deal with.

Houston,
If you check the e-mail that they sent you to confirm your order, it most likely has the following paragraph in it:
"In order to expediate your order we will ship all of the in-stock items immediately. We will automatically ship your out of stock
items when the merchandise arrives at no additional charge to you. You may of course choose to cancel your order at this time,
or select to substitute another item."
Like you, I was surprised the first time that I had a backorder at 5-Star, and even though I told them to hold the order until all discs until they were available, that they sent them out what they had when they had it, at no additional charge.

Hi Bill, actually this was the automated reply from them:
"Dear Valued Customer:
We are sorry to inform you that some of the merchandise you
ordered from us is temporarily out of stock. The items listed
below are presently backordered. We are working quickly,
however, to ship your complete order at the earliest possible
date.
We will automatically ship your order when the merchandise
arrives if we do not hear from you. You may of course choose to
cancel your order at this time, or select to substitute another
item."
I placed two orders on the same night. The first arrived days ago and I expect the second to come in when the out of stock title comes in. Only one title is backordered at this time. No problem by me as long as the order isn't held up as though CDNow were processing it.

Okay, the second order came in. I guess we should all remember to avoid checking off the "ship all at once" option since the company doesn't charge extra to make multiple shipments (so far).
Thanks again for all the help
