i couldn't believe it, it's almost faster than getting local mail. i received a notice yesterday saying that it has shipped and today i receive it? unreal! they're in arizona, and i'm in new zealand! global priority is way cheaper than getting international courier/express too, and it's way faster! can someone explain this phenomenon... whatever it is, i am VERY impressed.
There propably isn´t any adequate explanation on quickness of GPM compared to couriers, only one I could think is the lack of shipment tracking. Another point could be a summer-offensive by USPS -I got six shipments during july, regular airmail and surface mail, which all were received in approximately half the time than before. Have to keep fingers crossed this continues awhile or even be a permanent change.
Funny thing with with Global Priority Mail is how dirt cheap it is. According to usps.gov the smaller pre-paid envelope costs only a fiver, and at 6" x 10" should be able to carry 1-2 discs. Nevertheless DVDExotic managed to send me two discs in a very large jiffy bag that had postage stamp-duty of $8.70, and this was regular airmail.
I wish I could say the same. I recieved a e-mail notice from Five Star on the 11th of July saying the 6 DVD's I ordered had been shipped. Its now been a whole month and so far I have heard nothing.
I decided to ship to Australia using standard international shipping, which must be a hell of a lot slower then Global Priority. Im still surprised it has taken this long though as I have ordered from many U.S stores before and have never had to wait this long.
All I can say is if you plan to order from Five Star, choose Global Priority.
Global Priority is probably the better choice, I ordered a dvd and I got a email saying it was shipped, on the 7th of August (and incidentally i got another one on the 9th...fivestar may have a glitch on their system.). Giving the 6-10 (business) days fivestar recommended it should arrive sometime this week or next week. (Provided Customs hasn't nicked off with it). I'll post back when i get it and i'll give you a good idea of how long it takes.
Hi I've ordered 4 dvds from 5star, and slight worried about the customs issue, normally order my discs from addnow and have never had problems with them getting past customs, do 5star ship without the boxes? ordered them on Sunday so fingers crossed I should get them beginning of next week.
Hi Ed, yep I'll let you know how I get on, for your info Addnow usually take between 8-10 days (from my experience) but to be honest I've ordered about 24 disc from them in batches of 6 and never been stopped by customs (fingers crossed, touch wood etc)
Just to let you all know that I recvd an e-mail from Ken Graham yesterday evening to confirm that my order has shipped, so heres counting. Will let you all know. :)
Well its been six weeks and still nothing!!! I am begining to think my order is never going to arrive. I e-mailed Fivestar DVD yesterday to express my concerns and to see if they could check with the postal system. I did not receive a response.
Steve 0, try this e-mail address. I recvd my shipping confirmation from a guy called Ken Graham at Five Star (I think he's the main man there) I'm sure your'll get an answer from him.

Hi guys:
Please give customer service more than one day to respond to an inquiry before posting that they have not responded to you. Give them a chance to research and respond to your inquiry before contacting the owner of a company. Ken is very helpful - and I'm sure happy to help all of you out, but it's not fair to go straight to the owner without giving customer service a chance.
Keep in mind that they have to research what happened to your order before responding. This is why response times vary.
