But I notice the new one is a rather weak $5 at $50 job. Are the days of the kick-ass Fivestar coupon over? Those coupons really were enticing for me; without them, I'm just not so excited about buying at Fivestar anymore ... [Link] |

Basically, that price of DVDs are likely to rise as the popularity of VHS decreases and studios are forced to recoup production costs with DVD instead of it being the icing on the cake as it is now. I think that will likely kill all coupons and prices of adult DVDs will come to some sort of equilibrium, just as it did with mainstream DVDs. Right now, coupons are a good way to bring in new customers, but eventually they will disappear since DVDs are nothing more than a commodity, and there are a lot of people that will buy strictly on price. Eventually, there will be nowhere for retailers to go but to either drop the promotions or sell at a loss. While Amazon or Reel can stand to lose millions per quarter, that's not a realistic position for any of the adult stores to take. Anyway, off my podium...I enjoy coupons just as much as the next guy, but enjoy them while they last, because I'm pretty sure they aren't going to be around forever. You get used to seeing one sort of coupon, then see a lesser one, and you wonder ... As for the margin stuff, saki, well, I read that thread a few days ago and these sorts of arguments are all fine and dandy, but, as a TYPICAL consumer, you don't give a darn about a company's margin. Face that fact. You just want the best deals. Companies have the challenge of finding ways to deliver that. And I don't think affordable DVDs are a here-and-now phenom, myself. Anyway, thanks for the posts ... P.S. I feel like these forums are vastly and embarassingly quiet, and I just like to generate a little talk. [Link] |
