Hi everybody,

Anybody from Germany ordered from FiveStar lately ? I've ordered there a few times, but the last time was a while ago. I wondered if many things have changed there concerning international orders. In the forum I've read about them using jiffy-bags now, and I also read about them sending orders via Denmark :-o

I'm interested in these things because my further orders always arrived about 4 days after being shipped. Now already 8 days have passed, and I'm starting to worry. Did anybody notice an increasing shipping time to Germany or other countries ?

I think FiveStar are shipping all international titles through Denmark, and 1-2 weeks would seem to be typical for European delivery now.

What are German retailers like for price?

I'm in Australia and they split my order as some items were on backorder.. The first shipment took just over 3 weeks to arrive, via Denmark and it's now been a few days over 3 weeks waiting on the second part of my order.

I have to say I'm not especially happy with the way they changed their shipping methods. No warning at all, when the first part of my order had taken more then 2 weeks to not arrive and I looked at their website it still said that they were shipping internationally with GPM. >(

In their emails to my queries they said that I should email them with every order to request GPM if I want it sent with that method..

So now I'm waiting for the second part of my order to arrive so I can make another order...

Hi again,

thanks for all the info. It's a bit confusing though. In the forum one member was saying they'd always declare the value of the content. Their webpage states the same. On the other hand none of my orders had the value declared :-o
And that's basically a good thing since packages with a value of around $20 or more are quite common to be examined by custom. So if FiveStar really declared the real value, chances to receive the order were really bad.

Anybody knows about the laws concerning inner European shipment ? Maybe custom is no problem in that case ?

JMO: I'm not sure if there are any German retailers at all. I thought I once had seen one on the net. But prices are usually extremely high compared to the ones of US retailers. As far as I know in Germany it's forbidden to send porn via mail.

scipio: Good to know, that international FiveStar orders are common to need some time to arrive at the moment. 2-3 Weeks is quite a long time though. I hope it's at least more secure than sending via GPM.

Hey SCIPIO:

I Ordered as you said asking for Global Priority to be the shipping method, only to be told they have changed shipping companys(bad timing a). It has now been 2 weeks and still no sign of the parcel, I changed to fivestar to avoid this kind of thing and will have to reconsider ordering again. PS: have u used any other companys with success shipping to australia?

Mantiz,

In the other 5-star thread they have stated that they will be having a range of options for international shipping next week on their website.

I'd hope that they can restore the Global Priority mail option, at it's previous cost of $2.50 + $2.50 per disc as I was quite happy with the price and speed of that method.

I wouldn't be willing to make any further orders with the nondescript boxes via Denmark. Having a random delivery time isn't to my liking, nor is paying a fortune for 2-day delivery.. Let's hope for the best :)

As to other companies that I have dealt with - Adult DVD now has always been reliable and had good customer service. They send in GPM envelopes so orders will usually arrive within a week, with no boxes.

ADN is generally more expensive than 5-star, though not on all titles and they also have a thingy where you get a free dvd for every 5 you order from them (they don't have to all be at once). The free dvds range from predictably crappy to surprisingly good.

Basically I've only ordered from these two to Australia. While neither is perfect, both companies have good customer service (in my experience, anyway) and are reliable..

cheers,

scipio

Thanks Scipio, I read your other post saying you are now into your 4th week of waiting for your last order, My order has now entered the 3rd week and I am not real impressed, You are closer to the states than i am so maybee ill be waiting 5weeks?? The thing that anoyes me the most is the fact that Global Priority was the shipping method that was quoted as the shipping method. No warning of changes whatsoever, the other thing that pisses me off is that my previous dvd supplier offered free shipping worldwide that on average took 4-8 days maximum, until recently. Like you i am not in a terible hurry to recive my orders however I dont consider that to be the point. The fact is you and i know if time was taken to check the country that the parcels were being sent to, and the appropriate shipping service was used we would have our dvd's in a week, not a month or longer.
