I ordered a dvd reading the description as it was 4 hours long (although i knew it would have at least 2 hours of crap that could have been deleted) plus photo gallery blah blah blah. Anyway when i actually got the disc it wasnt 4 hours long it was only an hour and a half, minus the photo gallery, and it was crap so i wasnt really happy at all.

Well i sent fivestardvd an email explaining what the problem was, thinking at least they could change the description for other customers buying the disc. When i got a reply to my surprise fivestar are gonna send me a free replacement PLUS a prepaid envelope to send the disc back to them, isnt that good of them -:)

I knew amazon did this but i honestly thought they would have replied saying "tough s*** we didnt make the disc" but obviously not. I just wanna praise them and say thank you to them for doing this and for being so good to their customers.

Thanx guys -:)

Yeah I order almost exclusively from Five Star, love the selection, the prices are competitive, and I get my order in a resonable amount of time. Glad they worked something out for you.

Mantiz, I'm in Australia and have ordered from them twice so far. My first order was sent Global Priority from the USA and took 4 days to get here (and was opened by customs on the way through, no probs in Australia).

The second order they had changed to nondescript boxes sent from Denmark (better for UK and asian customers) though their website at the time said nothing about the change). This time it took 3 weeks to arrive.

I contacted them and they said if I prefer my order to be sent Global Priority just email them a reply to my order confirmation and let them know, which I will be doing for future orders..

Hope that helps,

scipio

Thanks SCIPIO:

I have asked them to send it using global express, however it did state that this would be the shipping method on the pre-invoice. Its good to know they are good. Not keen on freight charges though, my last dvd supplier did not charge, but their sellection was not so good. Anyway thanks

Mantiz,

I'd suggest always emailing them specifically asking them to send Global Priority with -each- order.

When I placed my second order their pages still said they they ship internationally GPM - I had to email them to see what was going on when it hadn't arrived after almost 3 weeks (GPM always takes a week or less to get to me in Melb)...

Hey Scipio:

If it says on your shipping invoice Global Priority, Dose that guarantee that has been shipped this way? or dose it say that on all the invoices? did both of yours say that??

Shipping invoice?

The "Your Five Star Order has been shipped" email says nothing about shipping methods nor did tghe actual paper invoice that came with the orders I have recieved..

Which invoice exactly are you referring to?

WOW this service gets better and better :) Just to follow up on my first post, i sent fivestardvd an email stating which replacement i wanted. A few days later i got an email saying that i COULDNT send the crapo dvd back as i was international, i hadnt got the foggiest idea what this meant untill i got a confirmation email saying that my replacement disc had been shipped !

So i got a completely free disc and i dont even have to send my rather expensive 'now' coffee coaster back :)

Thanx fivestardvd, TOP marks

I agree that FiveStar offers great service. They are always friendly and help as good as they can. On the other hand I've got some criticism as well (who would have thought that ? :))

Concerning international shipment: As is already being discussed in another topic there seem to be some problems with the duration of international shipping via Denmark. 2-3 weeks is really a long time for someone who is used to hold his order in his hands after having it placed only a few days ago. But maybe it's more secure concerning custom problems than USPS. If that's the case (I don't know. Any hints ?) I would accept that, though. I know it's possible to tell them to use USPS, but I'd really like to know which way is more secure before I'm doing that.

Another thing is their selection. Bono-One said he likes it. I have to say that it often appears a bit thin to me, compared to other retailers. They don't seem to add new films as often as the others and not as many as the others. They often only start carrying a certain title months after it's available elsewhere, which can especially be noticed with series. When Diabolic or Anabolic publish a new film of one of their series, FiveStar often only starts to carry the predecessor several weeks later, and I wonder why that's the case.

Other than that they're still very good.

Yeah i agree they are a bit slow with some titles EG: rocco ravishes praque 3 its been out for a couple of weeks now everybody else has it?? Also I just recently placed my first order with these guys after many recomendations off this forum, I really cant understand why companys like this with a good reputation F..K around with what seems to be a good shipping method and company? It just pisses people off that are use to reciving there orders promptly.

There has been quite a bit of discussion here regarding our international shipping methods so I want to take this opportunity to explain what we are working on. We have spent a great deal of time trying to perfect our international shipping system. Recently we’ve been testing several different shipping companies and so far the results have been mixed. Basically, our international customers have told us they want 3 things.

1. Fast shipping times
2. Inexpensive rates
3. Minimal or no interference from customs

With these 3 goals in mind we’ve recently had discussions and meetings with every major carrier including UPS, DHL, Fed Ex, Airborne and the USPS. After looking at every conceivable shipping option from each of the carriers, we’ve concluded that there isn’t 1 shipping option that satisfies all 3 criteria. So, the best solution is to offer several shipping choices and let our customers decide which one works best for them. Some customers prefer to pay extra for 2-day delivery, while others prefer the most inexpensive method. We will also offer a “discreet option” where only the discs and artwork are shipped to minimize any customs delays. Look for these new options to be available early next week.

Thanks to everyone for their comments and feedback. If you have any further suggestions please feel free to contact me at graham@fivestardvd.com.

Sounds like a great idea, providing all the information is there to enable people inexperienced with the different shipping methods to make the best choice.

Just to agree Spesedy, their selection is a little bit poor at keeping up to date with some studios. I have noticed this with my two favourite ones, Private and Evil Angel.

The Problem for me wasn't so much the fact that they changed the shipping options. -It was in response to UK ADTers' discussion about Global Priority Packages getting opened by customes and VAT'ed after all, so it was done with customer interest at heart.

My problem with it was that it was changed "just like that" and I didn't have any say in it (almost 4 weeks and still waiting on the second part of the order - in this time I would definately have placed another order and up to 2 orders.)

For some regions of the world I can see the plain boxes via Denmark being the best option. For Australia the Global Priority boxes were perfect. Taking on average a week or less, at a reasonable price. I don't need the discs in my hands instantly, but the less time they spent in transit the safer I feel.

It's certainly good to have 5-star monitoring this forum and taking the feedback of their customers.

As far as their selection goes - they don't always have everything I'm after. but my want list is bigger then my wallet.. so there's always something else to buy..
