Not all legal tubes use hosted content, some host their own. The bigger "illegal tubes" just steal scenes and add them to their tubes. However, the cost of web servers and hosting these days are pretty low so it's not as bad as you would think. How do they make money? Ad revenues by selling things such as cam site and dating sites. They also can sell traffic to other sites (meaning visitors who visit the advertised site from the tube). Bottom line is this... if you have a lot of website traffic, there's always going to be someone out there willing to pay for it. The value of it is the variable, though. Anyway... running a tube site can run anywhere from $20 a month to $20,000 a month (or more) depending on MANY different things. The big illegal tube sites are run by larger companies (on the down low, though). Hopefully that explains a little. It costs me more than that each month to flush my toilet.  Anyway, nothing is FREE. It's just a matter of who is paying for it. In the case of web sites, the bottom line seems to be advertisers (or hobbyists). It's difficult for me to image that advertisers will continue to 'pay for' tube sites that don't 'pay off' as advertising platforms. [Link] |

You do see samples, though... ever wonder why? However, on those same sites... you see full length videos from all sorts of other studios. The reason is simple... you can't sell what you're giving away for free. Brazzers owns some of the largest tube sites, but you won't find full their full length videos on any of them. Anyway, when I said $20 a month for a tube, you have to understand that that is for the most basic tube site there is. Think about it... all you need is a small virtual host for $20 a month and use sponsor hosted movie samples. That means the sponsors or affiliate programs are flipping the bill for the actual video bandwidth since it's hosted on their servers and not yours. However, porn surfers are smart and they want the full length stuff... so you have to go to the illegal tubes for that. Oh, and you mention the "routine" of running a tube. If you go the sponsor hosted video route, the other sites do all the work. You just add a bit of code and it automatically updates. I wish that tubes with full length videos would die out... but I'm a realist. They won't. They're here to stay. The only thing that would change it is global policing of hardcore material on the net, and that's just not a reality... so as someone who is in the business... I have to learn to adapt to the new way of doing things or I'll be left out. Tubes, torrents and file sharing websites are killing the "pay for porn" business model.
