| Savoy All-Star Member Sucker for Sinners 1844 Posts 12/06 | Posted - Mar 30 2007 : 1:59AM ***PROS**** 2) Attention to detail - the painfully crisp creases in Thomas' clothing and that limp bloom in the beautiful bouquet of flowers communicated so much about character and their respective states of mind. There were many more small touches that helped breathe life into the story. Those are the only two I can remember at the moment. 3) Working characterization into dialogue scenes – for example when Thomas and Vivian arrive home, Thomas removes his shoes and places them *exactly* parallel to each other in the correct spot and then Vivian tosses hers off to his irritation. I liked this approach very much as opposed to the forced set-up feel of the "morning wake up – let’s get to know our girl and boy" sequence. 4) The clothes – I loved the clothes! :) 5) When the acting doesn’t stop when the action begins…maintaining character and relevant dialogue during sex scenes. I really liked this in "Sleeping Around" also. Not everyone does it so I appreciate it when it does happen. ***CONS*** 2) Audience excluded - I understand that there are extreme budget restraints, but I felt like the characters were talking an awful lot about some event we weren't allowed to see – the fashion show, the dangerous car ride, the series of dates. It always felt like I was showing up 2 minutes late and missing out. Does that make sense? It just happened too many times. 3) Hated, hated, hated that Thomas made his declaration of love to Vivian and it was in a wide shot. Ugh. I want to see faces. I understand that the pay-off was suppose to be the INS agent (Ms. Hartley) hiding between the cars, seeing that the relationship is real…yada yada. I was waiting for the cut to a two shot and it happened but too late. It was anti-climatic and I really felt cheated as a viewer. Overall - I wish more of Vivian’s free-spirited style had been incorporated into her action. It would have been awesome if we learned as much about her in how she moved as we learned about Thomas in how he moved. Line delivery felt stilted at times. I don't know if that is something that can ever be completely fixed. It just comes with the territory. Pros outweighed the cons and I just simply like Stormy’s creative style. I need to watch more of her stuff. Whoa – I wrote a lot…probably more than anyone wants to read…lol Oh well. Take what you want. Ignore what you don't. Peace out! [Link] |

That being said, I feel the actors did a great job. Especially Roxy, who did more acting/dialogue than she ever had before. As for the scene that you "hated, hated, hated", I feel the same way. It happened that way because just as we were trying to shoot the scene, the gardeners showed up next door and began mowing. It was so loud! I ran next door and gave the guy 20 bucks to hold off for 10 minutes. I only had a few takes and that was truly the best one. Once again, budget constraints....What are you gonna do? lol [Link] |
