With the popularity of Marley Brinx and other foreign Performers shooting here I've always wondered about what they have to do to be able to shoot in the US. How long can they stay in the US to shoot, if they can even work legally in the industry and what do they have to do to get green cards to stay permanently?
Does the INS deal with people in porn differently than someone who is in the regular entertainment industry? Any information is appreciated.

^I suspect the first thing you need is a work visa otherwise any non-US citizen working in the US would do so illegally and any company hiring said performer would be braking the law. Seeing as the 2257 regulations are enforced by all studios than I can't see any foreigners working illegally in the US.
I'm not exactly sure how one gets a work visa to do porn but seeing as it's pretty common for strippers to cross borders between Canada and the US without too much difficulty than it can't be that hard for someone interested in doing porn. I think a much bigger stumbling block is cost of living for Foreigners. Unless you can live with someone than whatever money you make from porn will get eaten up before you can save a penny.

^ According to some industry insiders, most foreign performers are working illegally in the US.

^Thanks for that. Am I wrong in thinking that a studio willing to hire a foreign performer illegally working in the US might get into serious trouble with INS and possibly even the IRS?

^ I don't know. Probably. But most of porn is all quasi-illegal anyway. Shooting in Florida and Nevada is not legal yet happens all the time, shooting with condoms is the law but how many shoots do you see with condoms, etc.

And the person the thread is about not only made it to the industry, but made a fairly large splash when she did (Esperanza Gomez).

Thanks for the link to the thread, Bill. I guess I could claim Marley is my long lost daughter from Toronto.
