I've often thought a number of people reply to threads solely for that reason: it's a placeholder for the conversation.

Does anyone know how to automatically go to the last unread or last new post period for the threads in 'My topics'? | Drew Black broken crankshaft 8009 Posts 9/99 | Posted - Feb 11 2014 : 9:10AM The forum keeps datestamps for each user's topic "visits". It stores these dates for 7 days. We only keep 7 days worth of data because the storage requirements start getting huge. I'll take a look at it to see if I can increase the retention period and what effect it would have. When you visit a topic the database will look for your last visit to that topic (within the prior 7 days). If it finds you in that table it redirects you to the next post after your last visit. If it doesn't find you in the topic visits table it looks for your last post in the topic. If you haven't posted in the topic it sends you to the first post in the topic. [Link] |
