Hi,

I just got a email from a friend. It seems that several US staates are decreasing (or already have decreased) the rights of the general public more and more. Now it seems to be illegal and a fellony to create, buy and use devices like computers, vcr´s, telephone equipment and other electronic equipments who have not explicitely authorized by ´a higher´ force.

If anyone can read german here´s the link ... others may use a translation tool

I don´t know what to say to this other than ... i´m shocked to see something like this happening in america !!! There are several countries i wouldn´t have been overly surpriesed if they would have come up with stuff like this ... but america ? Do you people even recognize what is happening here ?

I wonder what else THEY come up with next

Thoughts are free are they not ? America surely is not

This is referring to the Super-DMCA Bills. As someone who doesn't believe the government is trying to control everything we do, the way I read this is it is for allowing for easier prosecution for those who steal cable, etc. I'm not a lawyer so no I don't understand the legal wording and have to rely on the various more 'common man' translations of them available. Personally I think the EFF is over reacting, as I have felt in the past alot. They mention that Oregon, where I currently reside, is one of the states where you are prohibited from using any device that isn't granted special permission by the provider. The only restrictions that I have here are that I can't use any device used to compromise the communication provider or to obtain services from the communication provider that I am not paying for. This is just my take on all this though.
