I honestly get why people are peeved about the September date not happening. I just wish it wasn't then having a negative impact on Rob wanting to post here. It might be hard but I kinda wish people would hold their tongues a little bit if it's costing us some nice previews and updates. But as I said I don't actually it's unfair for them to voice a negative opinion about setting a date. It was nothing intentional but to say a date and then push it back is a mistake. Not anything huge. Hard to explain, I guess I just wish the critiques didn't get to the point where it affected posting here. I see both sides, it's just one side produces really good content so I don't mind being a bit deferential even when he does something that isn't 100% good. [Link]

That being said, building an entire website isn't easy. Even if the contents were there (which clearly they're not yet), the website aspect takes quite a bit of time. Now, FTVX can launch with just a few dozen videos (or whatever amount Rob can have ready by that time) and I'm sure a lot of people (myself included) will pay it. But Rob is an ambitious guy who set an 80 video launch for himself, in order to fully justify the subscription. I can understand that. People are frustrated because they want to see FTVX which is basically more than a decade in the making. And Rob wants to deliver the usual high quality production that is typical of FTV while still delivering content for FTV. It's a touch balancing act. Personally, and this is what I believe is a healthy compromise, FTVX should launch with 40 videos instead. 40 is a far more manageable window if December is still the targeted launch date. I'm sure that will make most people happy and Rob can still work behind the scene to deliver the remaining 40. The internet has made FTV, FTVX, and this forum where we're having this discussion now possible. But it can also be a double edge sword, vitriol and outrage can sometime be mixed in with passion and excitement. Sometime, they all can be a little too much. So I fully support Rob taking a break from here. [Link]

I asked if anyone complaining has ever launched a website because if they had they would probably be more understanding of the work that's involved. Deadlines get missed and it's crazy how it seems most people in this thread are so perfect they have never missed a deadline in their entire lives. It's also pretty stupid how every single post nowadays is criticizing the delay, like people think their post is going to be the one that finally gets an incomplete site published. Let it go. You've run off Rob again for the same reasons he shut down the forum on FTV Girls. People's bitching and complaining because he didn't do something that they think he should do. He's been fairly forthright about delays and such from the beginning and why they are having one. He doesn't want half-assed product. He's made more money than all of us combined here - so trust his instincts and if you don't like it, go find another site and forum to crybaby on. It's tiresome. For those of us who are here genuinely to interact, we'll yet again have to miss out on previews, stories, and the general website. As a photographer myself, I know the countless hours that get poured into editing to make things look exactly right. I mean you have to be picky. With all of the bazillion hours of porn out there, you have to stand out somehow. Let Rob do his things. You'll have plenty of loads to save up to ruin your laptops with when the site launches. Remember the fail whales of twitter and the everything of myspace? Today, that's not how it goes. Everyone expects the site to be functioning at top level from the first visit. Also, the point is, your website is your calling card. It's a reflection of you. So it's the right of the webmaster to hold off until it's right. And it's not up to YOU to decide what that is, because it's not YOUR site. If you want to open a site, you get to do it your way. Just because he missed his original predicted start date, it's only a few more weeks. Again, if you aren't doing the work to help get the site up to speed, you have no business criticizing him for it. All in all, you accomplished nothing by criticizing him because your comments did not influence the situation. You only succeeded in making him feel bad enough to not come back here and post new updates, making you all douche bags, but more importantly, he's still going to do the website to his own liking, as he should since it's his product, his name and his reputation on all of it.
