Somehow, confidential information on the adult industry leaked out and is all over Japanese websites. They let out everything, including phone numbers. But we also got salaries.
Now we know why Yua Aida, etc., don't show up here. Aside from not being mauled by the likes of Eric Everhard, I doubt the US industry could match their salary. The best way to convert yen is drop 2 digits. So that girl who got 2.5 million yen for one movie? Around $25k. And notice how some of them go up with each movie, meaning the girl's popularity shot up with each title.
Shame Google's translator is so useless, I'd love to know more. But I guess this explains why there's been no exchange between the US and Japan, while European talent has been coming over for years.

I don't think this is news, Ordell. I know several industry people have mentioned that bringing Japanese porn stars over to work in the US would cost too much.
I think if that site were in English Ordell would be in a lot of trouble (unfairly). Also, I think the Japanese language, as written, looks damn near impossible to learn how to read, but it's attractive and stylish to look at on the screen.
I've probably seen more JAV covers saying 4-6000 yen and above. Some even saying 12000 yen! Those may be fetish movies, but nothing seems very vanilla when it comes to japanese porn.
And 30$ is not standard fare in the US, that's about 50% mark-up compared to online pricing (depending on studio). Most US porn I buy is less than 20$.

I hate racists people :( dont you know the Japanese are cool people?? Some of the best cars are made in Japan :) like Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Mitshubishi, Hyndai, Lexus, Acura, Suzuki...and you have the nerve to make fun of Asian porn stars ?? I would also agree that Japanese porn is much more expensive thatn american porn. Sure, the average price of SOME titles is $30, but most of them are much higher. For example, MVG titles go for about $40-$50. Aroma titles can get as high as $75. These are retail prices. You can find a few titles as low as $20, but they're pretty terrible and not even worth buying.
Some companies even sell VHS tapes still for $100USD. I've seen one DVD (4 hours of women pooping?!) for $250. $250!!
