I heard from someone that the makers of Gag Factor, JM Productions, were in some legal trouble a while back (facing an indictment?) in the US.
Is Gag Factor still legal to purchase in the United Kingdom? I'm assuming it is as there is at least one website I know that still sells the series, but I'm wondering if there are any legal ramifications for buying/owning a copy. I'd always thought that if the porn was available to purchase, then it was fine. (The retailer I mentioned is Vidshop.)
Also, what's the situation in the US for porn of this kind? Do the producers get in trouble, or is the consumer or the seller?
Any info is much appreciated.

For the moment you can buy anything as long as it doesn't involve children. You just need to get it through customs. I've never had any bother with them myself. The government is currently banning bestiality and "extreme porn" but not yet. Gag Factor would be ok anyway.

Some Gag Factor numbers contain pretty tough scenes (girls crying and obviously not having much fun on what they are doing - or even forced to do).
I doubt that in countries where "extreme porn" is explicitly illegal these scenes would pass.

JM as well as retailer Five Star DVD face indictments. With that news other retailers made the choice to not carry certain risky product. Obscenity laws in the US are vague. Any producer/seller could be indicted at any time, even for movies considered tame. Not only do we have vague obscenity laws we also have convoluted record keeping requirements (2257 rules.) It's a risky business here.

By accident, I watched the "Horror Porno" by JM,
dont remember the title, and it really was disgusting.
There were some trailers on the DVD, some were pretty rough, simulated rape, that in some situations was on the edge, girls cried and weeped bitterly.
I have seen this in japanese porn before, but was astonished,
that this was common in US mainstream porn.

If (almost certainly, when) the proposed ‘extreme’ porn law goes ahead, lots of uncensored consensual adult porn MAY fall foul, and therefore leave anyone in possession liable to (up to) 3 years in prison. That could quite easily include Gag Factor - gagging/choking during fellatio – would the authorities consider this life threatening?
IMO, the only way to be safe is to stick to the sub-standard (often censored) R18 certificate material, as BBFC ‘classified’ material will be exempt; well, sort of - remember, this exemption refers to whole DVD; this proposed law is so utterly ridiculous (not to mention unjustified, incompatible with the ECHR etc.) that even stills taken from a legal/R18 title could leave you open to prosecution!
