Gang Bang Anals (2004):For a man who was apparently reluctant to sacrifice his ambitions and settle into shooting gonzo, Zupko looks like an old pro at it. That's probably because, love him or hate him, no matter how sensationalistic his storyline or set-ups were with Evil Angel, Extreme Associates, and now Elegant Angel the sex was always top notch. Some of the absolute best damn fuck scenes I have seen from girls came in scenes directed by Tom Zupko. The problem was I usually hated them because the extraneous stuff proved distracting. His latest endeavor and also, I believe, his first full gang bang tape, "Gang Bang Anals" (2004) is no exception. Or is it?
With Alicia Rhodes on the front cover, this tape looks promising. Alicia is an absolutely exquisite beauty with a nasty streak that even exceeds that of my old favorite Eurogirl, Zora Banks. And she's possibly never looked better than she does on that cover. She is the main event of the tape and Melanie Jagger the closing bout. Where the hell does Katin come in though?
Each scene is introduced by a man with white face paint on and it sets the Zupko tone. All of the guys wear this weird face paint, with Tony T. looking comically idiotic in it by the way. There are, as far as I could tell, around 5 guys to a girl in the first two scenes. Alicia and Melanie's scenes take place on a set that is impressively modeled to look like a swamp, with authentic mud, dirt, and grass on the ground. And they take advantage of these surroundings. By the end of their scenes, each girl is genuinely filthy with earth all over them. For those of you wanting a mental image, think of the trailer that plays in front of seemingly every JM Productions tape where a girl wearing a fake pig nose is showin in slow motion on the ground covered in dirt. (It's when they are saying something like, "Are you a pervert?") This is pretty close. Both girls do anal and get thoroughly screwed and doused in cum. Melanie even seems a bit more into it than Alicia.
Then a strange thing happens. At the 47 minute point of the tape, both scenes are quite surprisingly over, extremely short for gangbang scenes, and we get an intermission telling us that in accordance with the porn fairness doctrine the following would be VP (vanilla porn). This VP ends up being around 35 minutes long. It features Katin, with 1940s style lingerie and hair, offering sympathy fucks to Herschel Savage and his two mentally retarded brothers. This is one of those Zupko occassions where for a brief time his indulgences completely deter from what should be the most important thing in the scene: the girl. Katin has simply never looked better here, but the two other guys acting like pretty offensive retards is rather unnecessary. But you sign up for Zupko and you get what he wants to give you. Once the sex begins, this is all pushed aside and Katin is exquisitely pounded. Herschel and one his "brother's" sit next to eachother which makes for a great sequence where Katin lowers her magnificent asshole onto Herschel's cock in cowgirl and then does the same minutes later to the guy right next to him. Unlike Alicia and Melanie, Katin does not do a DP here nor does she take on as many as 5 guys. She stops at 3. I liked this scene better than her one in "No Swallowing Allowed", though she did a lot more anal as well as a DP in that one.
With its obvious play on words, this is meant to be a resurrection of Elegant Angel's classic "Gang Bang Angels" line. And with Zupko directing much in the fashion that Rob Black did while with Elegant Angel, it is a somewhat successful one. Again though, there was a bit too much here for my tastes that distracted me from the action. However, I admit that I don't really like gangbangs. I just saw part of Stephanie Swift's EA gangbang and was wholly unaroused. So, I actually liked the VP scene much better.
Note:
As hardcore as the first two scenes were and then as truncated their length felt, it seems as if there might have been cuts and decisions made that were not that of Zupko. This Katin scene is hot, but it is not represented anywhere else on the DVD really. The features pretty much focus on Alicia and Melanie. And in the AVNinsider on-set report about this tape they never once mentioned Katin. They thought it was just going to be a tape with Alicia and Melanie. I wonder what happened here.
