Both are now available on DVD exclusively through KristenBjorn.com. Hopefully they will both appear at other e-tailers in a couple months. (Hopefully at much lower prices!) :-)

Thanks Pornphile for the information. Which Etailers do you usually go shopping for non-Atomic released Bjorn DVDs? They are expensive but not available in most of the stores here.

Just so you guys know - I tried to get TLA involved in our price search, but they declined. I will try again.
We are in their affiliate program (see [url=465107]Shop</A), but that doesn't make it an easier to find what they have and at what price.
If there are any stores that you'd like us to approach about the price search just say the word.

I have purchased the non-Atomic Bjorn DVD's, Hot times in Little Havana, Manwatcher, Mystery Men and the Vampire of Budapest from TLA Video. They run $44.99 to 49.99 each, but Little Havana and Manwatcher can be purchased as a combo pack for a little more savings.
At the local video store here in West Hollywood, CA they are sold at MSRP, which I think is $60 plus our 8.25% sales tax. TLA is in Penn. so they don't charge me sales tax and they offer free shipping over a certain dollar purchase.
It seems that when Kristen Bjorn ended his distribution through Atomic, he is trying to self distribute through selected retail stores and e-tailers. I guess he is trying to position his DVD line as a premium product and does not want his titles being sold for $29 each like DVD Advantage is doing to the Atomic DVD line. Maybe it cheapens the image he is trying to maintain for his DVDs.
On a personal note, I do like Bjorn's exotic looking men and locations. My favorites are Comrades in Arms and the Vampire of Budapest.
But when I have to pay $50 each, I am starting to think twice about it when I can get high quality Titan and Studio 2000 releases from Atomic that are be sold for only $29 at DVD Avantage. (I have ordered from them twice and have had quick service.)
Hope this helps!

I guess the key is to build the gay DVD market enough that more retailers keep inventory on expensive titles like Kristen Bjorn ones. They can always buy 'em through distribution. But with the current costs it's a major inventory risk.
I'll work on TLA

Steph: TLA's online store also doubles under other brand names -- "Men" and "Freshmen" magazines both use TLA store (under their own names) for their online sales... [url=466666]Here</A and [url=466667]Here</A... I don't know whether this has anything to do with their reluctance to join the price search engine, but it's clear that they've got a pretty complex business model going, and it may be one which isn't as price-sensitive as other stores...
Pornophile: As for Kristen Bjorn's DVD strategy -- I think he just doesn't have a real "distribution arm" the way Atomic does. Atomic's parent company is one of the biggest mainstream porn distributers. KB Productions is pretty much a two-or-three-man operation...
Bjorn DOES keep the discs exclusive to his website for a short time, but I think he's ready and eager to sell them through any store which wants to carry them... (Though--as you say--his pricing may be steep enough to prevent much discounting...)<small>

It looks like TLA so far is a better store to buy some titles of Bjorn movies. Unfortunately they just increased minimum free shipping requirement to $100. It used to be only $75.00 purchase.
For his movie, if I could not get $29 deal but $39, I still think it deserve it. However, $50 really make my palm sweat.
I agree what Steph said gay dvds for most of stores are still a niche market. No one wants to take the risk. They can certainly do a promotion like dvdadvantage, but if the purchase cost is already prohibitively high, no stores are interested in making this kind of promotions. Those greedy producers!
I think their stategy is nearsighted. The more expensive of dvds, the less people to buy. With less people to buy, the inventory cost is high, hence the districution cost, which makes the cost of making dvd even higher. It's not a healthy cycle and they really need to learn the Scale of Ecomony!

Steph, Alan has a very good point here. Although we have tons of gay websites on the cyber space, no one could really go through each site and find out informations. Some website are really good but crammed with too many affiliate ads that I got totally lost or overwhelmed.
However, traditional magazine in turn becomes a better advertising channels. We only have no more than dozen of gay porn magazines out there. I still regularly go to the stores to buy some issues if I like them. So if we can exchange ads with one magazine and the result may be powerful.
I buy "Manshot" monthly and do find the web links on their ads useful, at least I would try some links to find out what's going on there. Manshot is de facto gay porn magazine that have the most complete gay video reviews.

great idea. i will definitely investigate that. they may not be interested only because advertising in print media is more than 10 times the price of advertising online. but perhaps we can provide them content for exposure - like a review.
as far as TLA - it could also be that we are an adult site - they may prefer to promote their mainstream side and not get too involved with adult sites.
