Well is anyone else upset about this turn of events. Rog says this might be the last year for the fan aspect of his annual polls and I sadly am inclined to agree. I just don't see how both these fan favorites can be gone by the second round. So while I will continue to vote in this years polls I am looking forward much more so to the Rog's Critics Awards. Now neither may get his vote but I know they will get a fair shake. Oh well, anyone else have a thought on these two lovelies being bounced so early. Granted neither may be everyones cup of tea so to speak but each has been quite prolific in their production this year while some still in the running may have only done one or two titles. I still must thank Drew and Steph for their efforts to do this year's poll.

That's what happens, sad but true!

So while I will continue to vote in this years polls I am looking forward much more so to the Rog's Critics Awards.

I too will continue, even though I kinda lost interest. Rog's critic award should be more honest in my opinion, seeing is how Rog is a porn authority.

I actually think it is to bad that Rog feels that this might be the end of the readers poll. Sure it is a bit of a farce with performers as popular as Bella & Gauge exiting so early. It is weird because usually people's choice awards are ridiculous because they recognize popularity above and beyond talent, but Rog's poll doesn't seem to be recognizing talent or popularity accurately.

I don't think you should give up on the poll just yet Rog I just think you need to simplify the poll. I think it can be reasonably said that the field can stand to be narrowed at the beginning of the process. I think you should only nominate girls that are deserving of the award to begin with. I realize it would be difficult, but surely of the 64 girls we started with at least two thirds should be taken out. I'm not trying to criticize the current structure, because it is quite an elegant system under the assumption that it gets a representative cross section of voters, but it obviously does not.

May be just have two rounds next year with eight pornstars nominated. If unrealistic longshots aren't in the poll to begin with there is no way they are going to take out performers that are obviously more popular.

However is it does end up as a battle between Britni and Jenna for the title at least the worlds most popular pornstar will win the popularity contest.

Ok I just took a look at the current standings & Britni is already ahead by something like 200 votes. I have too say nothing would make this poll more of a travesty than Britni winning the whole thing. So to answer the original question from Bono yes I am a little upset about this turn of events.

I've made my feelings pretty clear on this on my news site. I always wanted these fan awards to be for the readers of my site. It was there chance to be heard by picking their favorites. That's not to say that I didn't welcome people from ADT coming over to vote. All traffic is good traffic. We saw it last year with a few of the races where some outside forces changed the outcome. No problem. (Last year the problem was ballot stuffing.) This year we are seeing people vote who clearly aren't readers of my site. Again, it's all good, new traffic is great. If the hundreds of people that Britni and Jenna are sending to the site stick around and become readers, then I have to be happy right?

Well, I'm not all that happy. With Drew's help we got rid of the worst cheating from last year so that's great. We are working on ways to reduce the number of outside votes, but no system is perfect. I think it is clear that a Britni/Jenna final is what we will have. Does that represent the readers of my site? Of course not. However, these women are NOT breaking the rules.

Cutting down the field is an idea. The problem is that I would have to put all personal feelings aside and pick say the best 16 according to reader feedback. I have a bit of a problem in that I wouldn't pick the 'right' 16....someone will always feel left out. (Angry Felecia emails this year.)

As for Bella and Gauge, I don't want to give it away but I can say that AT LEAST one of those two women will be one of the 6 nominees for Best Female Performer.

The Critic's Choice Awards are almost ready. My question now is what to do about a possible rule I'm giving myself. I nominate 6 movies for Best Feature, 6 for Best All Sex and 6 for Best DVD. I'm thinking of making each movie only eligible for one category. So a Best Feature can't be up for Best DVD. Why? Because some of the best DVDs I've seen this year were for movies that weren't released in 2002. Thoughts?

Also, should I be like Major League Baseball and announce the nominees one category at at time over eight days or throw them out there at once?

I know that I have read many of your reviews Rog, in fact I discovered your site through the reviews on rame.net. I use and have used many of your reviews for purchasing decisions.

I will continue to use your site as reference, and will continue to use it, as I do ADT.

But it does suck when outside voters come in and vote, without ever having read a single review. But if some of them stick around and keep coming back, then that is always a good thing.

I say do it all at once so we will have more to discuss, lol. Glad to hear that at least one of those two lovelies will be in your top 6 Best Female list, either one would be an excellent choice.

It might be going too far to say I'm "upset" by this turn of events, but it definitely sucks. I think the main fun of seeing reader reaction is to see if other fans feel the way you do. Does everyone really like Aurora Snow that much? Am I the only one who thinks Fujiko Kano is smoking? (Apparently.)

Sadly, those answers are now tougher to figure out. It's a nice sign for Rog's growing place in the porn world, though, that performers see his poll as worth rigging. That may be one reason he's justifiably a bit less upset than we are about it.

As far as the critic's awards, Rog... I say announce them all at once. No reason to keep us in suspense. And I think multiple nominations is fine. If a great movie happens to get a great DVD package, why should you have to deny it one of those awards just for some arbitrary rule? If it's the best (or one of the six best) in both, we should know that's how you feel.

One thing I would suggest if you continue next year in some form despite all the BS: Why not add movies to the polls? Obviously I trust you to do a much better job of picking the candidates than, say, AVN.

It would be nice if you could announce all of your nominees all at once.

As for the multiple nominations thing, my biased vote ( goes to allowing it. Whatever year the DVD is released, it can get nominated for that year.

So, for example, if you liked Euphoria from Wicked, last year, the VHS would have been eligible for Best Feature, and this year, the DVD would be eligivle for Best DVD.

It's a nice way to recognize it as being one of the best. Doesn't mean you have to pick it as the winner in both categories.

Oh, and about the fan polls thing:

Obviously it's not representative of your site, and if this bums you out, then if you can't figure out a way to make it actually be representative of readers of your site, then don't feel obligated to do it.

For some of the people who made it to the second and third rounds to knock out some of the people who have gotten knocked out (ie - Bella and Gauge), then that doesn't even seem representative of any true cross-section of fans.

My two cents. Personally, I'm glad to see them gone. They certainly don't represent what I like or turns me on. I also have a problem with for some reason all the raincoat fans thinking that whoever does the most hardcore gross out scene or whoever puts out the most product in a year automatically should have performer of year given to them. Alot of people here seem to be doing the griping here but just recently we had a poll topic about reviewers to describe themselves and they're likes and dislikes. If I'm not mistaken I'd say 80% percent of those peoples turnoffs are exactly what these ladies are doing in every one of their movies. Let's face the facts. If I walk doen the street and ask someone who Janine or Jenna Jameson are then ask who Belladonna and Gauge are which girls will be more well known. I think this applies to the business in general too. There is a huge market devoted to companies like Vivid and their girls whether you like it or not. Alot higher than the fan base for red light district I assure you. Just so you don't think I'm biased I can't stand vivid product either personally. I also follow my favorite girls not their companies. My suggestion. Have next year break it down into classes. For example, raincoat girl of the year and maybe contract girl of the year. Once you get the two winners there have them go head to head for performer of the year. That way, even the losers fans will have something to brag about.

Seems there are "divisions" of adult actors, so you have "stars" who look pretty but do not generate intense levels of sexual heat in their movies, relative to "performers" who go all-out, in terms of sexual energy, or willingness to attempt the more extreme feats possible in oral/anal/multipartner/cum-drenched marathons. Or both. To me, Gauge and esp. Belladonna are quite phenomenal in the latter regards. They really work hard at it (no pun), and I think you have to recogniZe that in any poll like Rog's. And after "Fashionistas," sheesh, it's clear that Belladonna is the greatest female porn performer now working in the business. Based on sheer guts and wildness, but also she came across as a pretty good thespian (no pun intended). But I guess I am more impressed by those who really lay their asses on the line than those who are presented purely as "tits and ass." [I think Jenna Haze is someone who can play across the spectrum, as she is doing now. The perfect synthesis would be her performance in "Big Bottom Sadie."]

I was personally crushed that Taylor St. Claire got no farther along in the RogPoll running than she did. She's been incredibly fun and sexy in every scene I've seen of hers this year, and "Fashionistas" only certified how great she is. That *outfit* in the first sequence alone! She has the most fun pair of tits, and it's great when directors really know how to appreciate them. Combined with her wicked, troublemaking persona, and, well, everything else that she has going on, and I don;t see why she doesn't have her own balloon in the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade.

Ah well ... it's *just* a poll.

I would like to reiterate that the voters were not blind. Even ones sent to Rog's site directly by Britni's or Jenna's efforts had a choice once they got there.

I also think that it makes sense that the final race will be between the woman who performed the most scenes in the most extreme ways and the woman who sold the most videos.

Many of you are "sad" or "upset" by the female performer race. I suggest that no matter who would have won, someone would have been disappointed that their favorite didn't win. But this year you have a common focus for your disdain in the form of Britni.

Jenna is the most famous pornstar to ever exist. This poll has been thoroughly discussed here, RAME, Rog's site, and other places I'm sure. This poll is not wanting for publicity in the world of internet porn connoisseurs. Let's not forget that if Britni wins it will not be because voters didn't know who anyone else was. It will not be because Britni had some kind of unfair advantage. She's against Jenna "The Juggernaut" Jameson, for pete's sake.

I am interested in knowing how Rog and Drew determined that a lot of Jenna and Britni voters had never been to Rog's site before. Also, we're getting into a Bush/Gore situation here. If Britni wins, but Jenna gets more votes than all the women in 3.2 combined, will it be fair that Jenna doesn't advance?

My final thought is this: let's not forget the largesse of the porn world. 10000+ releases a year and an uncountable number of stars actively working around the world. To you who are upset that someone you're not familiar with is winning: is it really hard to imagine that even we deddicted fans who saw 50-200 pornos in the past year would have missed someone? Even someone great?

The enemy of sexually powerful women is shame. The enemy of sexually powerful men is aggression.

Well, I wonder how many people would change their mind about the whole "lobbying your supporters" thing if, say Adult DVD Empire or Adult DVD Talk decided to encourage the tens of thousands of people on their mailing lists to vote for a particular candidate? Or perhaps to vote for any candidates other than particular nominees? I'm not saying that either organization would do that (I know they wouldn't), but it does show how pointless and how easily influenced internet polls are by those who are willing to do so.

On the point about missing a great performer, I'm a firm believer that porn is in the eye of the beholder, so if some people think that Britni is all that and a bag of chips, that's cool. But when people I know watch a hell of a lot of porn say either "who is she?" or "you've got to be kidding me," I would tend to think that she's more of a niche player.

We've got a very diverse cross-section of porn watchers on this forum, and what strikes me is that there are only seven thread hits on a search of "bisexual britni" in this forum prior to November, compared to around 15 more in the past month (most of which are talking about Rog's poll). I doubt that you'll find anyone in Rog's poll that has fewer mentions in this forum.

I never implied that the voters never have visited Rog's site.

BTW, the top two finishers in each bracket advance to the next round. I assume that will be Britni and Jenna in round 3.1/

I just read on the front page of Luke Ford that someone at Xplor thinks I'm incompetent.

Don't ya just love fan favorite polls? They're as much fun as a night of binging on Ex-lax.

True, I forgot who she was, only seen her once. But she did email me, telling me she was in a few Extreme Associates VHS, I said I don't buy VHS, then told her that Extreme wasn't the greatest quality discs, and that I will NOT buy an Extreme DVD 'til I see some improvements. So that is why I had only seen her once.

First of all the top 2 finishers in each bracket will advance to the Final Four. Britni and Jenna will be in opposite brackets next week, then face off in the finals. Jenna will no get aced out.

What you described, Jenna getting more votes than the winner of bracket 2 is good proof of your first question. I have done these polls for years and I've noticed that when one bracket has three times the votes of the other for the same award, something is up. Sure people care more about Best Female than Best Compay, but most of the other races are balanced. When people pop in, vote in one bracket and leave, it is a fair bet that these people are coming in from an email or a pop up. They are not readers of the site. None of this is against the rules and maybe some of the will stick around, but not many.

Thanks for the interest. I hope this clears it up.

Congratulations to Britni. I want to be the first to congratulate her on winning the poll.

Fear not, the Critic's Choice nominees come out later today. On my site and ADT first :-)

That sort of happened last year. Kimi won, in large part because she had huge support from ADT. Nothing wrong with that and the site did not official endorse anyone, but the chat boards encouraged people to vote for her and she won.

The difference of course is that a lot of ADT readers are also RR readers. (And I appreciate every last one of ya)

I was going to mention this, but I think that the other (and maybe bigger) difference was that Kimi's support was not initiated and carried out by fans (ADT members) and was internal to ADT. Nobody was contacted via e-mail and urged to vote.
