The first one is GayAdultdvdempire.com (Same as Adultdvdempire.com, but higher monthly fee) So let's discuss this one first: When I first subscribed to them back in 2006, their selection was awesome! They had all the new releases and when the new releases were released they were almost always available to rent the very next day or a couple of days later (about a week tops) then something happened in 2008 (I don't know if it was new policies, new ownerships or what the deal was. The new releases stopped becoming available so soon. My queue kept getting higher and higher and little to no shipments then they did the worse thing they could possibly do, I was paying $39.95 per month plus a 15% discount for 8 dvds. I get this e-mail right after Thanksgiving or so that states that they will be raising my rates from $39.95 to $69.95 per month due to the increased cost of postal services (so they say) Anyway, I decided to stay with them because I liked them, service was excellent, well, until the latter part of 2008. I didn't think they should raise my rate because of my longevity with them, but they did anyway. Well, 2009, has been pretty awful almost all their new releases take almost a month if not longer to become available (they say they are out to customers, but, I don't believe it.) I have complained, they claim they will look into this and nothing ever happens. They tell me about new release Tuesdays, but hardly anything is available then. I think the rental area has been neglected and they need more help with it, but they refuse. It's really frustrating and almost not worth the price per month. Ok, now let's talk XRENTDVD.com. I have been a member of theirs for years as well. I really liked them in the beginning. Their customer service was good shipments were pretty quick and everything was available. I don't complain about the 'monthly rate as they have never jacked up my rates. (very grateful) What I do not like is this whole premium title scheme and maybe I was not paying close attention to it, but I'll have movies in my queue and even though it says "short wait" or "medium wait" etc, you can still rent it as a weekly rental, but, you have to wait for it if want it as a monthly rental meaning that you have to wait for someone to return their copy. I would love to do weekly rentals, but they are so expensive. Some titles go up to $12.99 a piece plus you have to pay shipping of $3-$4. It's ridiculous. If I go to my local videostore they will rent new releases between 3-5 days for $3-$3.50 is all. So let's say I rent a premium title from Xrent that is $10 and I pay shipping of $3.99, I am out almost $14 and I have to return w/in a week whereas if I paid about $20-$30 more I can own it and let it collect dust on my bookshelf. It's absolutely ridiculous. I finally called to complain and all I got was "that is just the way we do things." Ok, I have tried Sugardvd.com (the selection of gay titles was the absolute bottom of the barrel.), maledvd.net (they don't really get the brand new releases, but their customer service was excellent.) Goflix.com (horrible customer service and almost nothing available.), I tried gaydreamdvd.com (Bushdvd.com's gay site) it was nice but they get about 10-20 new titles a month give or take. They don't charge the 2nd disc as a rental and their al a carte prices are by far the cheapest. Xrent charges your queue for the 2nd disc which I feel is unfair and I have complained as well as most of the time thee 2nd disc is just previews and behind the scenes that I have no interest in seeing. Gaydvdempire.com's 2nd disc won't ship to you (where they put it when then open up a case to make it a rental is way beyond me. Ok do I sound frustrated? It's because I am. I am paying very good money for both of these sites and I feel like I am being taken advantage of. I know I can't be the only one here. Are there other places to try or is this pretty much it which is why these companies can take advantage of customers the way they do? I hope there are places I have missed. I have tried google searches, yahoo, etc. I guess it is a no end situation. Any help would be apprecaited. :) Stizzy :) [Link] |
