Normally I would put this in the shopping forum but since I am inquiring about websites that rent strictly gay DVDs I thought this might be the best forum. Mods, feel free to move this thread if it is not in the right place.

Just curious as to which websites that offer only gay DVDs for rental. I am not talking about some of the more popular websites that offer predominantly straight DVDs and just have a small selection of gay DVDs. I am more interested in the websites that that is all they rent are gay DVDS. Also, what do you like and not like about those sites and what would like to see them do more of or differently?

well there is nymmedia.com they are all gay and do a good job at getting the best titles. I like that they offer you a $1.00 discount for every review that you submit that is decent and meets their requirements (50 word minimum).

there's a new site that i just stumbled on that is new which features black/latin gay videos (blatinovideo.com) they have several good titles that i don't see on other gay sites for those who admire men of color. I like that they are entering the market and giving people a choice other than white men.

those are the only two that i deal with right now and i have no complaints.

I have only browsing experience with nymmedia.com but their selection looks great. Delivermale.com--same experience but it looks like their selection is more limited. There is of course a division of opinion on the rental of bareback flicks (modern, not pre-condom) and both of these just mentioned have them--for example HDK, Zyloco, Treasure Island. But maleboxdvd.com does not as a matter of policy. All of these sites have a credit card monthly fee arrangement with a personal "view list" from which one is sent DVDs as one returns them.

I have problems with this arrangement for a number of reasons but the most prominent is that I want to get the exact flicks I want when I want them and often this simply does not end up being the case with these sorts of systems. Your sub-text under your name , xrentdvd, is a source I have used in the past. They have a rent-as-you-go plan and you can see that the movie you want either is or is not immediately available. But the selection is fairly poor. They do not carry Raging Stallion, an omission alone enough to stop me from using them with any regularity. GayDVDEmpire has a similar arrangement but they only have a very small subset of their whole inventory available for the rent-as-you-go plan.

In any event, only nymmedia of the sites I've explored has enough of the studios and hence types of flicks I want--namely, Raging Stallion, Titan, Hot House, Colt, and that genre. So I end up buying more than renting. And paying for it out the wazoo.

From some very basic research it looks like NYMMedia is the preferred gay adult DVD rental site on the net. How is their selection and service?

yes, they are very good, their selection is good, sometimes you have a long, short or medium wait for new releases which is expected due to the high demand, their service is veyr good, superb!

Yes, I work for XRentDVD. We are considering opening up a seperate website that will service the gay consumer much better. Hopefully this site will enable the gay customer to find the genres of DVDs they prefer quicker and faster. Since this is still in the initial stages of research and development I wanted to find out which other e-tail websites are considered to be the best. If we go ahead and move forward we want to make it the best site out there for the gay DVD consumer.

we are interested in hearing any suggestions on what would improve a site like this or what could be done to improve others that are already in place.

I love xrentdvd, i think they are the best, i like gay and straight porn, and i joined xrentdvd a few months back, and the seleciton/availabiity is fantastic, if you could make a gay version with the same criteria as xrentdvd then you'd be doing head to head competition with nymmedia and i owuld join, i can't praise xrentdvd enough, with 21,000 plus movies, I'm constantly on that site adding movies to my queue (578 total to date!).

I liked NYMedia but I got sick of the wait. They have a good selection but not enough movies. I'm with DeliverMale now and am happy. They show what is available and what isn't.

I used to rent from maleboxdvd. I canceled them after 2 months. I got tired of never seeing the "short wait" and "Long wait" NEVER change into "available now". 2 months? thats outragious. I also got sick of emailing them cause it would be over an entire day AFTER they received a returned dvd that they bothered to send out another. They like to say they read and respond to emails but I NEVER not once ever got a return response.

I was gonna go with Delivermale, but again, I had some questions not covered in the FAQ and they never responded. I signed up anyway cause it was 7 day free trial... after a FULL 2 days they STILL hadnt mailed out anything in my Q... out of 25 flicks I added in the Q, only 2 were available (unacceptable)and I'm talking about titles from 2003, not something newly released... and not one of those made it to the "sent out" status, so I canceled them.

I checked xrent and I like the layout and was impressed that so many gay titles were available for rent...UNTIL I found out why. A great many of them arent available for rent in the monthly rental programs.. the ones we/I want to see.. the newer stuff... basicly anything over $5 per rental is not allowed in the monthly program.. Aha! No wonder the great majority of cool titles from the best directors and studios always are in stock.. hardly anyone wants to rent one single new or newer movie for $9.99! Thats highway robbery... and unless I am mistaken, S&H charges get added to that? If true that makes it even more outragious, but even the $10 for one single title w/o S&H is too high. Unless I understand their language wrong and someone can correct me I think I am correct..they did however respond to me in an email an hour later to answer my question about gay movies in the monthly programs and what I explained here is how I undertsood them.

I think I may end up with nymmedia and see how they are. These gay and or straight adult rental sites need to pay better attention to the Netflix model if they wish to succeed.

I'm not a huge fan of the "monthly" fees so lately I've been using xrentdvd.com, bludoor.com (limited), and a few from gaydvdempires ala carte program.

I've never had any problems with any of them.

xrentdvd would be my choice though overall.

Actually just went to check out nymmedia's site and its very slow...what are there policys?

I've used nymmedia for almost a year. I found the selection to be excellent, turn-around time to be excellent, and the site to be fairly decent. For the $15 a month with the review discount, it's a good deal for me. With a 2-day transit time, I can get about 4 movies a month, each for a couple days.

I had one unplayable DVD, they were quick to send out another.

I'd be hard-pressed to change to another right now.

Hey Big Dave: I would recommend that you keep it somehow integrated with your main xrent service, so that anybody who's a member of either gets the same selection. Just depending on where you sign up, you get a straight- or gay-targeted site design.

Why? It seems like it wouldn't be a lot of extra work on your side and would be really nice for the folks out there that want to watch both gay and straight porn. I'm only a member of BushDVD right now and usually watch straight. I was gonna rent a gay title for my girlfriend (yes, this happens) and Bush only had 100-odd titles. Now I'm thinking of joining another service so she has a better gay selection to choose from, but since I do most of the porn renting and it's gonna be mostly straight, I don't want to join an all-gay site. So if y'all give me an excellent selection of all-male porn to choose from without preventing me from picking up some straight titles, I'd be likely to join XRent in addition to, or perhaps instead of Bush.

I think the number of people who want to be able to rent both gay and straight porn from one place is probably bigger than you'd expect.. I bet a lot of female porn watchers like both..

Thanks for paying attention to my ramblings..

QFT as I totally agree! I have not used them in long time but they were very good 2 years or so ago. I would have tried xrentdvd but i think that was tje one that did't allow gay titles into a package and were like some outragous $10 a rental.

XRent sucks when it comes to gay DVD's. First of all they say in their FAQ that only 5% of their titles do not qualify for the preferred rental program, but when you get into their gay selections, very few of their gay titles are available in the rental program. In other words, they reserve the bulk of their videos in the rental program for the straight videos. And the bulk of those not available are the gay videos. Yes, they welcome the gay customers, but he is going to have to pay alot more for the videos than those wanting the straight videos, unless he is willing to settle for videos made in the 90's.

In addition to this, when you return your first two videos that go out after each months billing, they will go ahead and show the return of one of the videos, but they hold off on showing the second one as received. They wait about 4-5 days before they will show the second one as received. This only happens in the first two that go out each month. I found it odd that this happened three months in a row and thought it was only me, until I asked a buddy of mine who referred me to the site and he went thru the same thing.

Unfortunately, because I live in Tennessee, I have very few options. Most companies like nymmedia and maledvd.net will not ship to Tennessee. Maledvd.net appears to have the best selections of recent videos with a pricing package nobody can beat.

I've used XRentDVD and gave up on them, and a long time ago I used WantedList. Now I'm just renting straight movies from BushDVD (good service, so far.) However, I'd like to find a gay service that meets these criteria:

--located on West Coast or reasonably near Southern Calif.
--stocks mail-order type DVDs, like those from CocoDorm, Streetcam, etc.
--has a large stock of black, Latino, and other ethnic videos

Any suggestions?
