No Tiana Lynn or Flower Tucci or Jada Fire or Missy Monroe or Sandra Romain or Sammie Rhodes or Angel Dark or Isabel Ice or Kami Andrews or Kinzie Kenner or Jasmine Byrne or Marie Luv?
Except for Jana Cova and Rita Faltoyano, this Top 100 list doesn't include any Eastern European stars. How can Monica Sweetheart be excluded from a Top 100 list? I dare anyone to page through the 700 plus girls listed at the Eurobabeindex and tell me that not one of them deserves to be included in a Top 100 list.
This list lost any and all "credibility" when Tera topped the list last year. I think that's when I found out that Tera is somehow involved in the production of the magazine, though I forget exactly how. That's the ONLY reason I can think to name her the Top Pornstar in the World, not ONCE but two years in a row in two years where she didn't do ANYTHING even REMOTELY noteworthy.
I'm usually a fly on the wall on here, but after reading some replies/reactions to our annual "PORN'S HOT 100" list for this year in GENESIS, I felt some explanation was needed.
The magazine itself states how we compile our rankings. It's done based on a majority of factors which include beauty, mainstream appeal/recognition, heat of performances, accolades in the industry, etc. So take Tera, example... She overcame a ton of industry adversity, "resurrected" her career with two of the best-selling movies of the year, was all over mainstream TV and radio, and is one of the most beautiful women in adult and is a damn hot performer.
We also get "names" to be considered based upon what the companies send us over the course of the year as in PR, screeners, etc. If we don't get screeners from certain companies, it's tough for us to even know who made what. Make sense? Hopefully we start getting materials from some companies because it helps us know what stars made/did what movies. We then ask a "jury" of our writers, reviewers, editors, photographers, industry insiders, etc. to give us their rankings/suggestions. Then, voila... The list is born!
Hope that answers some questions. Remember that lists always cause some controversy and everyone has their own opinions. Sorry if some girls were left out/off -- they're all great stars in our book. If any of you who are within the industry would like to contribute next year, let me know.

Genesis Magazine... The Home of Porn's Hottest Stars
Hey Dan I'd love to send you a hot 100 list of girls!! I write a few reviews here and there mostly in the gonzo genre! Love the title of your magazine BTW!!
It's hard enough to put together a list of active performers let alone rank them.
Then there are so many different types of performers (contract, freelance, amateur, web only, freak), fans (gonzo, feature, mix) and films (gonzo, feature, amateur) that it makes one list tough to make.
Breaking up the list may give you guys more articles for your magazine. Top x Freelance Top x Foreign Top x Amateur Top x Web Performers Top x Contract Stars
Then smash them together to form an Overall Top 100 performers. It's a lot of work but something to think about.
If you need Studio's to tell you who's hot and who's not then your not a "real" porn fan and your probably not qualified to be doing a Hot 100 list in the first place. IMHO of course
Of course we know who the girls are, but if we can't VIEW their performances, how can we rate/review/etc. them. How can we know exactly what each and every girl out of the thousands in adult over the course of a year did? Short of reading every review and box cover out of the thousands of releases, we do what we can with what we have. IMHO, of course. :-)

There are exactly two possible reasons for such a list.
1. Your magazine apparently caters to the inhabitants of Redneckville. An explanation is equivalent to carrying coals to Newcastle, they can't read - phrases expressing thoughts, that is - anyway.
2. You are editor of some political satire magazine paraphrasing the cause of the doom of empires, by showing the level of ignorance of your fellow countrymen not on some serious issue, but something like porn. Satire is killed by explanations, and/or explanations are an insult on the intelligence of your readers.
Either the explanation is superfluous or counterproductive.
most of the members of this forum are hardcore porn fans and to them this list may come off looking like it was compiled by casual fans.
To make it easier on your panel you should have a smaller group of "experts" compile a list of eligible candidates. They can weed out the retired, deceased and part-time performers.
based on what you're saying the point of the list is to get more companies to send you free porn.
My thoughts exactly, but thanks for being a good sport about the whole thing. On a more positive note all this talk about your magazine has me interested in seeking out a copy this weekend, you know what they say "There's no such thing as bad publicity".
Trust me. We're not in the business of seeking out free porn. We get lots of it already. We're a magazine that's been around over 30 years, and are sold on newsstands around the world. Also, our staff has to watch practically every movie that comes in here, and without naming names, if you had to sit through one very bad one in particular I did yesterday, you'd gouge out your eyes. LOL
BTW...I also see you're a Carmen fan. Carmen is one of our celebrity editors/columnists. Pick up the mag. You might like it, and anytime you want to give us suggestions, please feel free. Thanks
I like the fact you guys did a list but it could have been more current and complete. Good try for your first time. I imagine it's a cheap way to draw porn fans to your magazine and start debate.
I've never picked up an issue of your magazine. I focus my porn dollars more on videos and I have never really understood what flavours of smut you cover.
If I see a copy I'll take a look, I'm curious how you laid out the top 100 (a list, photos?). I'll defintely make a point to find it if Carmen's smiling face is on the cover.
from iafd todays top ten 1. Victoria Givens 2. Chloe Jones 3. Stormy Knight 4. Liza Pirelli 5. Vanity 6. Ava Devine 7. Taylor Rain 8. Victoria Paris 9. Christie Lee 10. Katie Morgan
At least I think all the stars he listed aren't dead.
When did Tera Patrick do her last scene b/g scene?
Chloe Jones died Saturday. A lot of the stars that show up on this top ten are because they're on the front page as having birthdays today (as in #'s 3, 4, 5).
Tera did boy/girl scenes in her last two released movies, Reign of Tera and Tera Tera Tera
We should give Dan a break. Lists are very subjective things. True, Tera hasn't done anything in a while, but you have to admit she still has very wide appeal. She's a top name like Jenna Jameson.
I don't agree with a lot of what's on the list, but maybe if I were looking at it from the perspective of someone at Genesis, maybe I would. Us people here on ADT aren't representative of all the porn fans out there, not by a long shot.
Even though this list is already a friggin' joke, one could still argue that based on those criteria, Jenna Jameson should EASILY be #1. Anything Tera Patrick did this year, Jenna did 1 hex better, sold more movies and won more awards doing it. How does Jameson fall to number two and Tera Patrick take top honors two years in a row, and the first year she won it she wasn't even working, sidelined due to a contract dispute with Digital Playground?
Because Tera's a part-time editor and publisher of the mag. Plain and simple. Genesis is to Tera Patrick what "O" is to Oprah.

But there's a difference between your PERSONAL preference and the FACTS. The fact is, according to the criteria that was laid out here, there is no way Patrick should be placed over Jameson on that list. Everything they seem to want to praise Tera for, Jenna had more success at.
I think that's why Tera is number one versus Jenna number two.
In lists like this you really have to look at if you're on the list and where you're on the list (top 10, top 50, etc) instead of the specific number. Being at the top only means you're one of the premier talents.
This list is a joke because YOU don't agree with it. That's like someone saying you're a joke as a reviewer if they don't agree with what you say about a particular movie, star, or scene. And before you misquote, read what was written. The things above listed are only a few of the criteria our panel considered.
Fact: Jenna doesn't really make that many movies anymore -- she's concentrating on ClubJenna. Some in the industry even say she's backing away from porn in her book and interviews. Tera's ranking had nothing to do with her "position" in the magazine. She's hired as talent, but with a contract. Taylor Wane is affiliated with our company's other publications much like Tera is, so are Mary Carey and a handful of other stars.
One thing I am glad about is that this "joke" list has struck up conversation :-)
It's just a list ... whether Jenna's on top or Tera is, doesn't matter much in my world. Clearly Jenna is the top of the food chain in this business as far as talents go. I don't think hardcore gonzo fans should expect a mainstream porn mag like Genesis to really cater to their tastes (Hustler would be more like it, even though they give all their own movies rave reviews). But for this kind of list, they definitely got a lot of great performers in the mix. I wouldn't take any of it too seriously.
I don't take it seriously (it begs NOT to be) but I'm just like "Hey, if these are your criteria then this person definitely fits the bill better." I don't expect Genesis to cater to my tastes. My taste would definitely not to have Jenna on top but don't tell me your criteria are one thing and then blatantly ignore the person who fits them to best to give top honors to a member of your staff.
As far as it being a "joke", the guy before me said the same thing. So it's not just me. It's not a joke because *I* don't agree with it. All I've seen in this thread are people that don't agree with it. I expect any list to have its detractors. Music magazines, movie magazines, they all do it and have their naysayers. But at least with those there's at least SOME validity and credibility crammed in there and only a few of what most would consider major faux pas. This Hot 100 Porn Stars is the complete opposite. This is, honest to God, probably the WORST list ranking the stars of any given industry by a magazine promoting that industry I have EVER seen.
Whether or not Jenna still makes many movies (and believe me, I can't even believe I'm defending her here, much less for this crazy list) The Masseuse & Bella Loves Jenna > Tera, Tera, Tera & Reign of Tera and Ms. Jameson has the hardware to prove it.

Its a list ...they are all subjective, and therefore all wrong in someone's eyes! It looks like this list, as flawed as its creation may be, did its job: it created debate.
Well,if it was a "good" list then I could take the topic seriously. But I don't even agree with Rog's year-end list of top porn honeys, and he actually has credibility -- I know he's a serious and comprehensive porn watcher.
I'm not sure I would even know HOW to properly rank a Top 100. Do you weight crossover and clout or voracious sexual performance and evolution from shy newbie to cum-guzzling cock monster? Pretty girls or nasty girls? Does Christie Lee rank higher AFTER she takes it in the ass? It's SUCH a personal preference for anyone.
I can tell you who I enjoy watching the most, and then I can tell you who I think merits respect for working hard, and then I can tell you who is gorgeous but I wish they did wilder scenes, and then I can tell you who seems to have some wider appeal to the hotel room pay-channel crowd, and then we can average it all out somehow ... but what would be the point? We do it here everyday anyway, pretty much. And it always changes every minute ...
Porn fans complaining about a "Top 100 porn star list" from a magazine like Genesis is like audiophile complaining about audio component rankings from Consumer Reports.
Neither one of them has a clue regarding the topic and will end up list based on bullshit criteria. Even when they try to meet that criteria, as soon as omissions are pointed out, the answer ends up being "Oh, we didn't know about that person (A/V receiver, Sub-woofer manufacturer, etc...). The fact that it's their job to know about that person (A/V receiver, sub-woofer manufacturer, etc...) before writing the article, always seems to be lost on the person giving the answer.
I don't think that any two porn fans would come up with identical lists of the top 100 hot porn stars. Porn is just too subjective of an experience. These sorts of lists are probably not meant to be definitive, or the final say (unless the creator of the list says otherwise).
The lists are probably created as food for thought and conversation. Part of the fun is seeing names that you would have overlooked and seeing if your favorites made it and where they are on the list.
As if you can satisfy everybody with ANY kind of a list. I for one, don't think Jenna or Belladonna are even remotely good-looking, let alone "hot," so the former would make my list (if I was ever to compile one) purely on her mainstream appeal, and the latter would never come close to it.
"Genesis" is a pretty lame magazine overall, IMO, and I would not look up to it for an objective view.
But the list did make for a nice discussion topic.
People will always talk, might as well give them something to talk about!! 174 Posts 7/04

Actually as i got informed the picking of the top 100 was not by one person, there was a voting from several mayor people to elect the top 100 for genesis , and i have to agree with the fact that just simply because you may think that your favorite hard core performers are not number one, like you will like them to be, it dosent mean the list is wrong, thats just your opnion versus everybody elses, if you dont like their results, hey make your one top 100 if it makes you happy, people argue about the dumbest shit, it makes me laughf some times..... Just like some peoploe agree that Maxim was wrong with their list and some tought it was great, it dosent mean its sucks just because you feel like your idol is number one.
And about Genesis being a lame magazine, i dont know why PAINLESS wouls say that, if you just dont like it, thats fine it dosent mean its lame. I understand you have your own opinions as everybody else, but come on, that magazines features the biggest and nasties stars 24/7
Anyway just felt like posting my tought on this thread, i think people are just too funny sometimes...
I wouldn't even bother normally, but thought your comment was funny. What was the last issue of the mag you bought, and be sure to tell me what you thought was so lame about it? The big stars? The DP shots? What are your suggestions to de-lamify the mag?

I've never seen a copy of Genesis, so I'm rather curious about it now. Does it focus on porn stars and feature DPs and anal? If so, I may have to start buying it.
Genesis is the only men's consumer mag to feature nothing but adult stars. Whether it be layouts of contract girls and big names like Tera Patrick and the rest of the Vivid Girls, Carmen Luvana, Stormy, Cytherea, Taylor Wane, Janine; or up and cummers like Taryn Thomas, Autumn Bliss, Courtney Cummz, Eva Angelina and more. We also run a contest every month called Sex Star Hunt where regular girls who want to get into porn submit their naughtiest shots. We found Vivid's Love Twins and Exotica made her debut with us that way. There's on the set features of movies coming out, behind the scenes from sex shows, advice from porn stars, reviews, news, interviews; and all about the business. We show anal, DP,s orgies, you name it. Sorry to sound like a commercial for the mag but check it out. It would be nice if PAINLESS or some others did before offering their "humble opinions."

I said that "some say you are backing away from the industry." I said it seems you are concentrating on ClubJenna (BTW.. .great signings).
I apologize for thinking you didn't make that many films last year. I thought a few of those came out in the previous year or two, so my bad and apology once again. Looking forward to some cool stuff with Devil
