Hi I seen some Ebony Ayes movies from 1980's where it was in GTO german format! Did she travel to Germany and fuck German men and women or was it all American actors and they did sound in German to make it like a foreign movie?

A number of american male and female performers shot hc movies in France, Germany and Italy in the 1970's, 1980's and 1990's (Serena, Mary Mendum, Tom Byron, Jon Dough and his wife, Raven, Tracy Adams, Jeannie Pepper who did some nasty watersports, etc). A number of american directors even shot movies there with a mixed american and euro cast (F.J. Lincoln, Henri Pachard, etc). These movies are in IAFD and EGAFD database.
I recently reviewed one of these productions called PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT with a few American performers transported, I believe, to the Swedish countryside for rolls in the hay. It's well-crafted with some "classic" porn situations. Ignore the DVD cover sleeve because I have no idea who those lovely mystery ladies are---T0M
So why do a voice over with the moaning sounds? I am interested how they sound when fucking live? And did some foreign male stars try to really pound away on american female stars? I saw where a french male star really work Sharon Mitchell from Amber and Sharon Do Pairs

Euro movies have been dubbed from the early days. They dub everything, dialogue and moan sounds. Most likely due to the fact that they are generally not recorded in direct sound. It would sound odd if an actress or actor would be dubbed in a general dialogue scenes, and it would sound very strange if they were to retain moaning sounds (of the original performers) during the sex scenes. In addition from time some words may slip in with the moans (like "fuck my pussy", "I'm going to fuck your ass", "yes, yes I'm cumming", etc). If you go back to the early days of porn in the 1970's and 1980's often the porn scenes were basically drowned out or completely overriddden by the music track. Moan sounds were not frequently heard and only partially. It's the way they were shot on 16-35m film: star, stop, camera repositioning, reload camera with new film, position change for the performers, change lighting, etc. It made editing and live-direct recording a bit difficult. If you have watched any amount of foreign movies over the years (Private, Video Marc Dorcel, etc) you would know that dubbing is quite common, and that of course includes the moan-sex sounds..

You leave out the fact that the casts are usually multi national and don't all speak the "home" language, making dialogue impossible to coherently produce live. It has always been one of the biggest drawbacks for me in those otherwise lush Private productions. I have a lot of trouble getting past dubbed dialogue, especially when they eliminate the sounds of sex as it happens.

Anyone who has watched foreign produced porn in the last few months/years is quite aware of multinational cast, and movie dubbing. That's why I made reference to Private and VMD in particular. Movies produced in Italy have the same dubbing problem, due to the fact they have an international cast (french, italian, hungarian, czech). Every one babbles in their native tongue and everything dubbed. The only country that really does not care about dubbing is the USA. Whether it's all sex or plot driven movies (produced by larger companies) everybody speaks English. Whether those movies are dubbed overseas when they are distributed there, they don't handle that, and they are not going to spend additional sums of money providing a dubbed version. Private was always one of the first to really make their productions more international in dubbing their movies in a number of more popular languages. The US has never been known to embrace dubbing whether it be in mainstream or hard core movies. The same goes for sub-titles. American moviegoers have always resisted that. If they like a foreign movie, either it goes in small art house distribution, or some studio decides to remake an American version. In europe and elsewhere dubbing is a way of life, and it does not bother them to the same degree as it does american moviegoers. Due to multinational cast, dubbing is an absolute necessity. Some foreign companies, like Pink'o, have tried to shoot a movie in English dialogue, but the result is rather poor, as the performers are not fluent in that language and the dialogue (even if it may have interesting on paper) sounds phonetically and wooden.
