I've noticed that a number of adult industry professionals post here, so my question is for them. I have done precisely two adult scenes, both of which I booked myself through craigslist. But, most of the supposed adult producers/whatever that I've contacted through craigslist have been total fakers/scammers (I don't get this - with the volume of porn and nude pics on the Internet, why waste everyone's time getting girls' headshots and shit. ugh) So, how does one get into porn? Should I be looking at getting an agent? Is there a website or service or something where legit casting calls are posted? Do I just need to keep doing what I'm doing and just deal with the spam and crap? I'm a smart, drug-free, together person who knows how to take care of myself, and my experience in the industry itself (as opposed to lame people who wish they were the industry) has been positive. You're setting yourself up to be fucked over. Here's a list of agency websites. They are always looking. ALWAYS. The two biggest are LA Direct and GoldStar. Sure if misstressi is 18-22 yrs old with a flawless body and beautiful face and has no inhibitions in front of the camera, the porn world is her oyster ( for about 75-100 scenes until she hits the wall of possibly being shot out). If she is 23-26 not the greatest body, but she still has all the right things in the right places and there isnt too much of it, unless its in the breast or ass, she will still have a good career. If she's over 27, its going to be much harder. Sure she can still get an agent, there is always 2nd and 3rd tier agents. But as for any of the top 3/4 agencies, they probably turn away more girls than they accept. The reality of the business is that there is always many new girls coming in, but there are very few A side girls. An A side girl is the girl(s) you see on Digital Playground's, Vivid's, Wicked's, Zero Tolerance's ects box covers. She is the 8,9,10. All the agents compete for those girls. If you cant say for sure that you're an 8,9 or 10, you probably arent. So if you are a 5,6,7 you might not be able to get into one of the top agencies. Unless you are willing to do just about everything and do it as soon as you enter the industry. A girl that is a 6 that does IR and anal from day one will work more than the 9 that only does girl-girl, but she wont be in the industry for as long as the 9. The industry is much different for a beautiful contract girl than a gonzo girl that has an average body with average looks. Just getting an agent isnt enough. You need to have a plan -- entry and exit. You need to know what you are willing to do and what you wont. How long you will work for and if you do not get booked what measures you will take to put money in your pocket. Right now is a tough time. A lot of the B side talent arent working. Girls are slashing rates just to book. I have heard that a $400 boy-girl scene rate is not unheard of and the talent that use to be $900 b/g is now dropping their rates to $600. However, the top girls are still getting their rates. Why ??? Because quality is starting to count. If you do not have the budget you use to have as a director, when you do shoot you are going to make sure your product is top notch. So I guess you need to decide your limits first and then decide if its worthwhile.
