I recently got laid off having just moved to Las Vegas with my girlfriend about a couple of months ago. I'm in the process of looking for a new job and my g/f is going to college part-time, working full-time, and we're both taking care of a baby. To help ease our financial burden, my g/f suggested she start stripping. As much as I don't want her to, times our tough and finances are extremely tight since I was the bread winner in the family before I got laid off. She would only do it at night, if possible, and only until either she or me got a job that paid enough.
So, how does one go about stripping? Does she just go into any ol strip joint and ask for a job? What do you look for when choosing a place to work? Where do you go about getting the outfits/shoes? Anyone know any decent strip joints in Vegas?
Thanks in advance for your help!

Bubba,
I wouldn't just go into any old strip joint. Like almost any other business, there are some good and some not so good.
You might have your g/f go into a few of the clubs and try and talk with some of the dancers, see how they like the place, how the management treats the girls, what rules do they have (must the girls sit with customers for at least X drinks per night, etc.)
If your g/f goes in, she will probably get more information than you possibly could, especially if the girls understand that she is thinking of dancing.
Some thoughts, but I'm sure others can make better suggestions.
I am a long-time lurker and first time poster. Until very recently my girlfriend was a stripper in Vegas and she had the following responses to your questions.
To apply for a job simply ask to speak with the manager at a club and tell him you are interested in dancing there. Usually they will hire you right on the spot if you are qualified.
By the way, in Las Vegas dancers are required to have a sherrif's card before working. That requires about 2 hours at the sherrif's office for a criminal check.
As far as clothes, most clubs have a House Mom who works in the dressing room. She usually has a supply of various costumes, G-Strings, shoes etc. for sale. Some of the larger clubs have vending machines in the dressing room with this type of merchandise. Also there are several stores in Vegas that specialize in dancing apparel.
Regarding where to apply, there are a lot of option in Vegas. 2 that my girlfriend suggested might be good for a new dancer are Jaguars and Crazy Horse Too. One that she would not recommend is Cheeta’s but your milage may vary.
DenverDon and DVDManiac: Thanks for the responses. My g/f is 20, turning 21 later this year. From what I understand, the anti-stripper laws recently passed will limit my g/f's choice in strip clubs to full-nude joints only. Topless-only/full bar clubs are for girls 21+. Is this correct? So far, we've been to a couple of spots and the one she currently likes is a place called Li'l Darlings. It's full-nude, supposedly respectable/non-forceful owners, and the girls, so far, have treated her well. She also likes Cheetah's, but I wasn't too found of the place and I don't know if she's old enough to work there, if that law is true. IMHO, out of all the clubs I've been to, I personally enjoyed Crazy Horse Too. I hear the new place, Sapphire, is all the rage now, but I don't think she can work there and we've never been.
futureofporn: We ended up in Vegas because I got a job at one of the major casinos. The g/f also wanted to take up hospitality mgmt. at UNLV.
I think my g/f is wonderful, so its hard for me to rate her without being biased. :) She's mixed with a bunch of different ethnicities, so she has the exotic thing going for her. I asked my friends to rate her, and they told me she's an 8/10.
Anyone know if any of the places train? I think one of her criteria was to get a place thats willing to train new girls.

Bubba,
Can't help you with the training bit, but once again if she goes in and talks to a few of the girls I'm sure they could direct her to places like that. Most of the girls are pretty friendly and helpful to someone that wants to get started.
I really hope you've got that the wrong way round. What kind of law allows a 20 year to go totally nude but not topless? Where is the sense in that?
If it was me in your situation I'd go out and find a job, anything will do until you find a job you really like, but that's just my opinion. I'd never let my girlfriend become a stripper, no matter how much we needed money. Especially seeing that she is in part time education and has a full time job also!
I think I'd have her give it a lot of thought before proceeding.
On a good night, with the club packed and guys laying down money at the tiprail and in the VIP left & right, stripping can be fun in ways no "regular" job can be. But on a slow night, when you've gotta get dressed to the nines, go in and be sexy & seductive to a handful of guys who keep saying "no" to your requests for a dance, and you don't know how much (if anything) you'll be left with after your tipout, it's a different story. It takes a certain combination of smarts & mental toughness to do it, week in and week out. Some women thrive in this environment, others quickly discover it's not for them.
Just my observations, based on talks with the dancers I've been fortunate enough to know over the years.
Patience is a virtue, but who wants to be virtuous? 4283 Posts 4/00

Bubba - your comment "As much as I don't want her to," made me cringe.
Stripping isn't for everyone, and being the BOYFRIEND of a stripper certainly isn't for everyone. I don't know either of you, so maybe I'm completely wrong, but my fear for the two of you is that even though you guys agree that it's "something she has to do" for now, you still might deep down resent her for being able to cope with being a stripper.
If she does start to strip, and especially beforehand, you are both going to have to look deep inside yourselves to see if you can deal with the emotional aspects of it.
If she does do it then, one of the best things to do to cope with it is for her to work at a place that you are both comfortable with. If Las Vegas does prohibit girls under 21 from working at the topless clubs because of the alcohol there, then I do indeed highly recommend Little Darlings.
Las Vegas is one of the hardest places for a girl to be a stripper. It's a hustling kind of town, and you have to be SO secure with yourself to remain sane with the competition with the other girls for the money and the approval of the customers.
DO NOT look at the dingy little clubs for her to dance at. They are very depressing to dance at.
BUT MOST OF ALL, if she's doing this out of a feeling of necessity, I can't recommend it to her. She will most likely resent herself, along with resenting you. (And vice-versa.)
