I made a similar comment in Emily W's thread, but that lawsuit is likely going to be a waste of money. From the article, it sounds like Gianna made an indirect reference to her and Adria later amplified it. If they used her stage-name (which I believe is what Adria did), there's really no way to not consider her a public figure. Proving defamation against a public figure in the US is a super high bar, so I get the suspicion this is mostly being done to bleed them with court costs. Then again, weirder things have happened so who knows how it will all shake out.

^I would agree with that if you were talking about slandering a private individual. But for public figures, proving intent is a bar that is pretty difficult to reach. My understanding is that for public figures, they have to clear the "Actual Malice" threshold before they can potentially be successful in suing someone for defamation. Which is to say, she'll likely have to prove that they knew the allegations were false before they spread them.
