Through extortion, William plans to pay for his re-election by blackmailing his closest friends.

I really like the idea of pornstars promoting themselves and taking the step towards mainstream but that cover isin't great it still gives the notion that its porn or softcore (feels like it might be) at least.
They should have gone with the design formulas mainstream movies have instead. The only customers buying this will be porn consumers and they might get disapointed. As I said earlier I like the idea though.

I don't see any reason why porn actors and actresses couldn't do mainstream roles. In a perfect world, performers should be able to cross back and forth between mainstream and porn with no penalty whatsoever.
Honestly, why couldn't someone like Sean Michaels or Jack Lawrence play the lead in a show like Hung? They actually know what it's like to have a larger-than-average dick and use it to make a living. And I don't see why Nina Hartley couldn't have played Samantha Jones on Sex And The City as well as Kim Cattrall--heck, she might have played the role better.
We need to get over the idea that the adult industry is some sort of show-business "ghetto" and those inside it must either stay in for the rest of their careers or "break out," never to return. Until we can do that, adult actors will never have the respect they (and we) feel they deserve, either from the mainstream entertainment industry or society as a whole.

Thank You both. It would be great if more people did agree with me on everything.
What really bothers me are the porn fans who think porn stars can only do porn, and should only do porn. I remember back when Ebony Ayes still posted to her Yahoo! group, I posted a question where I said that I thought she was a decent enough actress to have a mainstream career if she wanted one, and did she ever consider acting in mainstream movies or TV. She answered "no," but I got two other guys who responded accusing me of being a suck-up. Come on now--I paid her an honest compliment, and here were these schmucks saying in effect she didn't deserve it. If they weren't admirers of hers, what were they doing as group members?
Of course, the porn industry doesn't help much when it comes to dispelling the notion of itself as show business' "ghetto." Few casting directors are willing to hire an actress whose resume includes such stellar works as Cum Garglers #47 or Anally Mangled Vol. 356 or Desperately Depraved MILFs. She'd have better luck listing her appearance as a fake audience member in an infomercial.
Additionally, turnabout is fair play--if porn stars get to cross over to mainstream, then mainstream stars should get to do porn. Thing is, while there are more than a few actresses I'd like to see having full-frontal sex on camera--Jennifer Love Hewitt, Jamie Pressly, Salma Hayek, Donna D'errico are the ones who come immediately to mind--I have to ask, who can do porn better than porn stars? Especially male porn stars--I'd like to see Brad Pitt or Will Smith try to maintain an erection under hot studio lights with a camera running.
Anyway, Thank You again for agreeing with me.

As you know, Sasha Grey was in a mainstream movie. Hopefully this will help open the doors for other porn stars to get the same chance.

Even though it's not XXX, it's not really "mainstream."
This looks like what we call a "skinemax" movie. It's also DTV (direct to video), so it's definitely not getting the theatrical run THE GIRLFRIEND EXPERIENCE received.

Right, and TGE didn't even show at the cinemas in my city. I recently watched One Eyed Monster, starring two female performers who I think are great actresses: Veronica Hart and Carmen Hart. They did a great job (as did Ron Jeremy) and I really enjoyed the movie.
Most of all, though, it was really nice to watch actors and actresses who I enjoy performing in something with "real" actors, and still shining (also, what mainstream star is going to do what Veronica Hart did at the end of that movie?...awesome).
Edit: wrote TGF for some unknown reason. I must want chicken fingers...

I think this whole thing of using "porn actors" in "real" movies is rather silly. It doesn't make them into more respected actors, but rather just makes them into more cartoonish celebrities. They aren't given the same respect they deserve becase the movies are marketing them as "porn stars in non-porn (but still nudity filled) roles."
The only director who treated X rated actors like real actors in non-X rated films was Chuck Vincent.
If you really wanna see Veronica Hart (under he real name, Jane Hamilton) do some fine acting, look no further than her remarkable performance in Vincent's 1987 thriller DERANGED (itself a fascinating film that's designed to flow almost like a play).
Every other "mainstream" director who has hired X rated actors uses them either as a joke (like Kevin Smith in his awful "comedy" ZACH AND MIRI), or in a ridiculously small cameo appearance (like all of Ron Jeremy's "mainstream" credits).
Even TGE, which I rather liked, uses Sasha Grey as an extension of herself in what could be viewed as a tongue in cheek casting decision.

The movie should get booked at the Sunset 5 as a midnight feature. You should suggest it to Laemmle Theatres.

I have no in at Laemmle. I'm friends with the New Bev. folks but I doubt they'd go for it.

Aw, I liked One Eyed Monster. And I liked it because I felt like the movie had this weird integrity through being completely undignified but played straight. And I thought everyone did a good job, and it was fun.
I also don't like it when porn stars try to "cross over" and often end up being made fun of, or used for very specific casting, as john pointed out. Still, if something comes along that isn't hardcore, and has a performer I like, I'm generally going to say "well done" and watch it - much like I would if it *was* hardcore.

Hey, you never know. If the movie's distributor is willing to have the movie shown in a movie theatre, maybe there's a chance. I think it would be as good for them as it would for the Sunset 5. My point is it doesn't hurt to ask.

Actually, in spite of his claims to the contrary, rumor has it that Thomas Jane is pretty well hung.
Not sure that Sean Michaels or Jack Lawrence could bring as much to the table as you suggest. Male porn star isn't synonymous with male prostitute. For one, porn stars have a lot more of a choice about who they are "working" with than male prostitutes. And while penis size is usually what gets the main character in "Hung" through the door (proverbially-speaking), it seems to have little to do with how satisfied/dissatisfied his clients are with him, after the fact.

I applaud Gina for all of her pursuits outside of the porn industry, but that box cover is dreadful. Looks like something a 15 year-old would put together using some cheap stock photography, cheap effects and a pirated copy of Photoshop. Why not do it right and pay a designer to put something together?

Well, according to Jack Lawrence's bio page at his site, Jack did once work as an escort--among other diverse occupations--and apparently still does, if you go to Pamela Peaks' Talent/Escort page. If he could do it in real life, why couldn't he do it onscreen?
As for Sean Michaels--from what I can gather from his website and Wikipedia page, he hasn't done any escort work--but as I said before, he does have a large dick, and given the generally favorable comments of his females co-stars, he does know how to use it. So I ask again, why couldn't he play a character like that in a mainstream role?
Nothing against Thomas Jane--I'm sure he's a good actor. My problem is with everyone who assumes that porn stars should only be porn stars. Let's not make that mistake here, please.

I recently wrote to one of the people from R-Squared Films to suggest them getting the movie screened at the Sunset 5 as a midnight feature. He wrote back to me, asking me for Laemmle Theatres' contact information. I hope that something comes of this.

Yes, I'm aware of that. But an actor who's actually done in real life what his character does to my mind has an advantage over an actor who hasn't. You don't have to be a soldier or a doctor or a lawyer to play one on stage or screen--but it certainly helps.
And once again, I don't see why porn stars, should be limited to doing only porn movies.

One exception that comes to mind is Cronenberg using Marilyn Chambers in Rabid, although I guess it is up to debate if he was a 'mainstream' director at that time.

i always thought that porn stars will have a hard time making it in the mainstream because.. well, for one thing, they're not trained actors. you know, those types that do some research into their roles and maybe get into method acting. they can study, of course.
and, there's also the issue of typecasting. once you're in porn, producers are more likely to cast you as the gigolo or the slutty nurse, and never give you the serious roles.
do you know of any ex porn star who got some success in the mainstream?

Sonny Landham was the most successful I'd say, although a male performer. Wade Nichols also crossed over to legit TV work with a role on The Edge of the Night soap opera.

I was gonna say Sonny Landham also - he might have had a successful political career too if he wasn't a psycho.
