This is a topic that I was always previously very liberal with, as long as people were making their own choices then it was completely acceptable (obviously not in terms of being legal, or in line with set rules, but in terms of morally being that persons call). From my own experience I have found drugs can greatly enhance sexual experience and obviously in terms of porn performers many who use drugs often can have some practical angle to why they use (muscle relaxants for anal scenes etc).
In recent times though my perception around it has become less one sided and what has helped that is my own experience with cocaine addiction that I experienced over the course of a few years, which I am now glad to say is behind me (as it was absolute hell on Earth). I'd used coke recreationally from my late teens into my early twenties and had no issues with it, it didn't negatively effect my life in any real way and I could take it or leave it. Then I hit a rough patch in my mid twenties and fell for the stuff in a big way (I suppose it was something to lean on.....and then some!).
Tanner Mayes is a notable star (who I am a huge fan of) who has had well known drug issues, I have a title in my DVD collection produced by Brandon Iron (who I am also a huge fan of) its one of the volumes he did for the 'She is Half my Age' series....and she is absolutely stoked (the most high I have ever seen a porn star probably).....I have always been virtually fanatical about Brandon Iron's work and you could tell he was ultimately a decent guy (rest in peace dude) but I now think it was realistically a poor decision to allow her to be that high and shoot the scene (especially younger performers). Faye Reagan is another performer who did some great scenes with Brandon who I couldn't help feel a bit guilty about when I heard of her drug issues (though she never looked visibly high on any sets so much).
Anastasia Rose is a more recent favourite of mine who I have seen who looks very doped in certain scenes.....hopefully its not another story of someone going off the rails.
One part of me loves the added carnality of performers being high in scenes but I think if people are known addicts (or show signs of it).........or they are younger performers who are high, I think its ultimately not realistically acceptable to shoot scenes with them. Where as even to this day I think it can be acceptable if the people are in control, sound in mind and potentially have some level of maturity being older (but actually putting that into practice can be like walking a tightrope).
A few scenes I could come to think about, where one of more performers are visibly on some type of drugs.

Got to say I agree with Magnus on this point......that does not sound like hypocrisy at all (it would only be hypocrisy if she was actually judging people for using.....and then choosing to use herself)........if there is any truth in what you think you have seen it sounds like a simple case of someone struggling with addiction who has 'fallen off the wagon' or relapsed.
Agreed. I guess I phrased that wrong. Surely she has her problems. Just seems dumb to use one platform to promote your sobriety if you're going to talk about how drunk you are on another.
But, whatever the case, I hope she straightens herself out.
I won't call anyone out by name, but there are several performers that always appear high or drunk. I recall at one point whether it was an interview or BTS, Shy Love was saying she did not allow impaired actors to perform in her works. Personally, I didn't get the impression her position was based on performance, it always struck me as more of a liability concern.
