I really can't add much to the topic but I did want to know Jenna's opinion on a matter and that matter is what I call my (Patricia) Kennedy List ; a battery of fourteen questions designed to evaluate a pornstar's overall contributions to the business of adult entertainment. So without further adieu, I present to you:

The Kennedy List

Subject: Jenna Jameson

1. Was she ever regarded as the most widely known or best-selling porn star in the world? Was she ever the top seller for her company if she was an exclusive contract performer?

Without question, Jenna Jameson is the most widely known and best-selling porn star ever in the world (all of the “Jenna Loves… “ movies have topped the sales and rental charts of whatever year they were released). The voraciousness and enthusiasm she showed early in her career have long since fallen by the wayside but men, by nature, are brand-loyal, ensuring Jameson’s dominance until she decides to call it quits. She’s always been the top seller regardless of what company she was employed by, be it Wicked, Vivid or her joint venture with Vivid, Club Jenna. On June 25th, a tall billboard for her latest, The Masseuse, was stolen right off of Sunset Strip where it hung. Those are rabid, obsessive fans. (or some hating religious zealot, but for the sake of argument, let’s say it was a fan)

2. Was she ever regarded as the best performer in the world? Was she ever regarded as the best performer in her company if she was an exclusive contract performer?

I believe there was a time, early on in her career was Jenna actually was taking part in some of the most intense and satisfying scenes in all of porndom. She was virtually a living legend before she had even put five years into the industry, she was just that explosive. However, she shared the limelight with a lot of other stars over the years that were either on par or surpassed her in the work department. Over the years, Jenna has been on rosters with the likes of superstars Asia Carrera, Kobe Tai, Jill Kelly, Janine and many others, most of whom can fuck circles around Jenna, in my opinion. Fans had their pick of a variety of stars (think: Christy Canyon, Nikki Dial, Raquel Darrian, Nikki Tyler, Chasey Lain, Raylene, Taylor Hayes, Stephanie Swift) so Jenna wasn’t ever the sole focus of Vivid Entertainment’s various media blitzes or pushed the hardest. They pushed the top-notch, beautiful roster as a whole. Only once these other stars decided to go elsewhere (Asia), pursue other business ventures (Kelly) or retired altogether (Janine) did Jenna become the monolithic phenom she is today. And as long as she remains, no star near her will ever escape the long shadow she casts. Sorry, Brianna Banks.

3. Was she an international or just national superstar?

I think it’s safe to say that Jenna Jameson is an international superstar, probably the first.

4. How many years did she have on top as a superstar or top performer?

Jameson’s been the top name in porn almost since the very first year of her adult career in 1993. Her days as the top performer, however, were over once she decided to do strictly girl/girl work and only work with men to whom she was already romantically linked in 2001. So that’d be eight years roughly as one of the top performers, eleven years now as a The Undisputed QUEEN of Adult Entertainment.

5. Did she ever anchor her company(s) or was considered the sole reason for seeing a particular movie?

Jameson, while not Vivid’s anchor in the earliest days, is certainly their marquee name today. Even with Tera Patrick, a performer who doesn’t like to do g/g scenes, on their roster, Jenna remains the hands down favorite. Not Sunrise Adams, not Savanna Samson, nor Dasha. I just wish the people so enamored with Jameson, if they like that tame type of fare, would take a look at Wicked’s current roster. Stormy > Jenna.

6. Did she have a large body of excellent scenes or involved in a number of memorable, classic movies? Did she have excellent scenes with a variety of performers, male and female?

It would require going back to her earlier work but yes to both questions. Most of it was for Wicked from 1995-1997. Everyone’s heard of movies like “Flashpoint”, “Hell on Heels”, “Blue Movie”, “Jenna Ink”, “Built For Speed”, “Wicked One ” and “Wicked Weapon .” After she signed with Vivid in 2001, the number of classic encounters with a variety of partners lessened.

7. If she was primarily a feature performer, how good was she at acting, etc.?

She was passable just like everyone else. I don’t recall Jameson ever wowing me with her acting prowess nor do I remember her even being the best actress in her own movies.

8. Was she innovative or influential? Was she reknowned for a specific sexual skill or technique in particular?

Certainly influential and innovative for her business acumen. The Vivid marketing machine combined with Jameson’s own clear sense of what she wanted to and where she wanted to go have created more than just an instantly recognizable talent, they’ve created a brand name. “I have always had strong ideas about creative issues, but it was difficult to get people to listen to me when I was just an actress,” Jameson says. “Now I have a structure with a track record of success that gives me credibility and authority. It’s the way to go, and as far as I’m concerned it’s about time women in this industry assumed a more powerful role in its direction.” Because of her unique vision her company Club Jenna is shaping up to become the Team Jordan of the adult industry. Every girl who starts doing movies today wants to be “The Next Jenna” in that respect and I ain’t talking about Haze. Jameson’s got dough and notoriety because of what she does off-camera not because she gives the best head, rest assured. An innovative or influential performer between the sheets? Nah.

9. Did she experiment, test her own personal limits and push the envelope sexually on-camera?

Not on-camera. Jenna is known mostly for her straight vaginal one-on-one encounters, not a plethora of a2m, anal, double penetrations or gangbangs.

10. Did she make the performers in scenes with her better?

In a few instances she did take male performers I didn’t like and made them watchable, I think just because she was so awesome to watch you forgot about the slug working with her. Nearly every girl in the business agrees that there’s nothing like doing a g/g scene with Jenna and that she brings out the best (and sometimes the dormant inner lesbian) in her female partners.

11. Did she win many honors or awards?

Too numerous to list. She was voted the “Best New Starlet” by AVN, XRCO and FOXE – the only actress ever to win the award from all three groups in the same year. Since then, she has won virtually every honor the adult industry bestows

12. Did she gain mainstream media exposure due to her porn fame?

I think we all know the answer to this one. When the media needs to talk to a porn star , it’s generally Jameson they call on. CNN, VH1, E! (she had her own True Hollywood Story, for Chrissakes) and various other outlets have had Jenna on their channel at some time or another since her ascension. She’s the unofficial spokeswoman for the entire industry, even appearing on The O’Reilly Factor. She was in Howard Stern’s “Private Parts ” infamously and her book “How to Make Love Like a Pornstar ” is due out this fall.

13. Did she show a commitment to the business? Did she do what’s best for her company if she was an exclusive contract performer?

Jenna’s commitment to the business was questionable to me until the recent HIV scare. During that period Jameson walked it rather than talked it and showed where her heart was really at, setting up various fundraisers for her and husband Jay Grdina’s own brainchild, the Adult Industry Assistance Fund to help the performers who did catch the virus and were out of work or were in dire financial straits because of the moratorium and/or quarantine. To me, that was major. She knew that even if it didn’t affect her directly (because of Vivid’s condom-only policy and her personal decision to only work with her husband), she knew that if it affects one person in the industry it affects them all. When it comes to porn, politicians don’t discriminate.

14. Was she valuable to the business before and after her prime?

Like Traci Lords and Savanna Samson before her Jenna was one of the few girls to cause a legitimate stir about her talents as soon as she started much like Taylor Rain last year and Teagan this year. There was just something special about her right off the bat. Luckily for us, neither scandal nor tragedy has marred Jameson’s legacy so she remains valuable today, which I consider past her prime. She’s the face and voice of adult entertainment to the world-at-large and in her earliest days she attracted enough attention to bring thousands of new fans to the fold and did her part in bringing porn to the mainstream then and now. So “yes” and “yes.”

I can't watch couple's movies. I just can't do it. I don't like bad story line or bad acting in mainstream movies, let alone porn. And the music? Forget about it.

Perhaps if I saw some of these performers I mentioned out of this box, then my opinions would change. But since that most likely won't happen, I'll stick to what I said.

P.S. Jenna - PLEASE make a Gonzo Line. There's a thread somewhere around here that had people talking about Gonzo's with bigger budgets, and what they would like to see. I always say that someone really needs to find a happy medium between Gonzo and Couples. You could/should be the one to do it.

Personally i am not a big anal fan...so it's not such a big deal for me if you opt out of this.

But i would really like to see you in a more 'nasty' scene that is outside of the Vivid, JKP and Wicked umbrella.

You must know by reading this forum how many people would love to see you in a kind of PXP or RLD type scene. Just something that is a bit more off the wall and hardcore.

I recently rented 'Rocco Rocks', a comp of all the scenes he did for Vivid/VCA in the 1990's, as well as Digital Playgrounds' Island Fever 2. I did this so I could see Siffredi in one-on-one scenes, not his own recent scenes where he's often with 3 or more women, but can't manage to pay equal attention to all of them. And to see Erik Everhard in one-on-one scenes, that don't involve DP's. I'm tired of seeing EE, or should I say one of his legs or elbows, as he's pinned down underneath a DP sandwich for minutes on end (boring!!!).

I was pleasently surprised. Quite a few of the Rocco Vivid scenes, nearly all of which were vaginal only, some with condoms, where plenty hot. The one from "Jenna Loves Rocco" was top notch, as well as the scenes he did with Chaisy Lain and Nicki Dial. Rocco looked plenty happy to be performing with all these women, in fact, more happy than he looks when he's performing with a lot of Hungarian women.

In Island Fever 2, all three scenes of Tera Patrick with Everhard were fine. And I say the following with complete seriousness - Tera showed more heat and more personality than 90% of the Czech women that Everhard performs with. So Tera doesn't do double anal, big deal. Dumblonde is correct, Czech should be spelled CZZZZZZZech.

Now, it's not that I'm into couple's films - I don't care for plots and acting in porn films. Of course, the Vivid comp above had all the acting edited out, and Island Fever had no plot. So, both were fine for me.

I think a lot of the couple's/feature films would be more intense if they had the better male performers in them, like Siffredi and Everhard, who can bring some heat with them to a scene.
