Personally, I see OnlyFans girls more like digital escorts. It's a side job that pays well and does nothing to advance their career. I wonder if girls in the metaverse will perform sex acts on their fans' avatars, which will be basically prostitution. We can all agree that paid DMs are akin to phone sex, only this time you are texting and don't know if the person on the other end is who they claim to be.

It'll be really hot if there were some models who could do without OnlyFans because once they are on that platform they are making money like so many everyday girls are.

It's passive income. Even if you want to do literally nothing for your onlyfans, you can just set it up, get it to auto-post a couple pics each month, and it will bring in cash for the next several years. What advantage would there be to not set it up? You can set it up in one day, forget the password forever, and still make cash.

When you go to a performer's profile it's kind of a cliche that some sort of OnlyFans / custom website link will be there. It is a statement in itself that you do not need the extra money and can't be bothered. In the mainstream we know many actresses can have OnlyFans to make truckload of money but won't because it is bad rep. People associate OnlyFans to a certain kind of work. So not having one kind of subverts expectations.

Any girl can make her account on the platform so it has basically no positive connotation, more like negative to neutral. Even saying I am top percentage of OnlyFans means I am there with hundreds/thousands other girls. The democratic character of platform is unglamorous.

And the negative/neutral connotation thing... again is this anyone other than you who holds this view? I know that there are tons of porn fans who don't like onlyfans. I am one of them in fact. But how many of them think it's bad to even possess an onlyfans account? Sometimes people are angry if the OF work takes away from the mainstream work. But what if it actually helps the girl get noticed for mainstream jobs? Then are mainstream fans still angry that girl has an OF?

And if it's bad to show off that you're in the top whatever percent, isn't it just as bad to show off that you don't need onlyfans?

First many public figures won't do OnlyFans unless their star is fading. There is direct parallel to adult industry in that many girls shift to being OnlyFans exclusives when they sense they are not getting as many offers.

There are general discussions on social media where thousands of people participate - their perception of OnlyFans is not flattering at all. For instance I saw a post where a girl said she won't date a boy who has paid hundreds of dollars for OnlyFans content because that makes him weirdo. She got quite a response from other girls and boys alike, mostly agreeing with what she said.

In fact, OnlyFans itself recognises the bad rep from hosting sex work content and wanted to 'clean up' its platform, even if that meant getting rid of a large portion of income. It and its partners thought it was worth it. So that stain is never going away.

1. Girls finding OnlyFans weird presumably because of home made stuff that sells for hundreds of dollars whereas they would be fine with their boyfriends watching conventional porn. The one paying for OF content is seen as too desperate, as far as I can tell.

2. It is not the sex work itself but the risks associated with it that made OnlyFans consider banning this content altogether. So no only are they not producing anything, their approach of Oh who knows what these people will put on our platform that may get us in trouble is what was condescending and following after their Ah we can take your money anyway makes them a reluctant host at best -- and the girls unwanted guests with unforseen risk. All of this can be mitigated if they have some involvement in production but they want none of it. Sex work is not part of their vision or how they envisaged it to be, it is just how it turned out to be.

A similar example would be a musical service or streaming service to publicly express its displeasure on hosting some content and backing out and most artists staying with them. This doesn't happen. The artists will en masse boycott the service. This boils down to self respect. The stain I spoke of is on OnlyFans, not the performers. It becomes of the performers when they willfully let them have 20% of their earnings, which i have previously argued is extortion.

Beyond that there is certain shine that comes with unavailability and unreachability that is really coveted by stars. I first heard this from mainstream celebs who refused to have even social media and it has stuck with me since. I do direct business with many people in everyday life but I'm not their fan.

I have other thoughts to offer on this but I'm curious to hear from others than I want to speak.
