Hi everyone :D

My first actual post.

I come here quite often to look around and use the search Engine, which i must say is fantastic :)
easy to use site and u can't get lost :)
search engine works very well.

i am on the verge of placing my first order from the States into the U.K.
and i was wondering about www.fivestardvd.com's Global Priority box contating 5 DVD's in them, would it get through customs ? i am still very wearing on porn getting through into the UK from any contry and need some help from the people and do order from the states in a box of say 5 DVD's.
Any help appriciated.

Your order should get through Customs without problem but you may be charged duty and VAT on your goods if they exceed £18. It's something you may want to bear in mind if Fivestar declare the full value on the Customs Declaration form.

If you want the best chance of avoiding Customs use AdultDVDNOw but they tend to be a bit more expensive than Fivestar.

What about odering them and puting them in seperate boxes ?
The total cost will go up, but its still cheaper to order from Fivestar.
Would that be better?

Hard to say. In my experience I have been hit for charges on every order over the £18 limit but I tend to order single disks these days anyway so it's not been a problem lately.

I would check with Fivestar to see if they still declare the full value on their orders. They did with my last order so you may have to split your order.

There is no guarantee of anything from anybody.

I have reported my own shopping experiences. You alone have to decide what to do next and what makes you comfortable. I can only advise that if you still have doubts then don't go ahead.

Good luck.

Maybe i should have re-phrased that.

What do u recomend in me doing in this situation ?

i am not affraid to order, as long as i make the corect choice and that i have people like your-self replying to my post to help me decide on what to do.

do u have any suggustions ?
i have some qustions though if Somebody herre can give me some feed back on.

1) If i ordered from www.fivestardvd.com how should i order in quantity size ?

2) when placing the order (asnswer to above) What shipping method should i choose ? i think Global Priority as its not much for and u get your items 3-4 weeks earlier. :)

3) Anything I should request them to do ?

4) Should i shop else where ?
Sorry to all about this, but i want to get it right first time, as ive only got 1 £100-£150 to spend this year

Being in Australia, I can't speak much for what UK costomes will do to you, but I can offer a bit of info on this aspect:
As Charlie says above, ADN are often more expensive than Fivestar on most titles, though it all depends what you're buying. On some titles/companies goods their prices are pretty much the same (OGV for example) while ADN often runs sales, which makes some titles pretty much cheaper than anywhere else. (at the moment they have a lot of stuff on sale, including some Private dvds very cheap)

If you're being/would be hit for VAT for every order of 18UKP and up, you may want to give ADN a shot, as their shipping (particularly worldmail) is VERY anonymous and unlikely to be seen by customs.

It all depends on:

1) How different the prices are between 5-star and ADN on the titles you want to get.
2) The differences in shipping costs.
3) How the above two points match up against whetever VAT you'd be paying. - larger orders vs smaller orders.

Again, I can only speak for myself in Australia, but the delivery time differences between GPM and Worldmail -from ADN- is only a few days (about a week versus about 10 days). You'd be best off seeing what sort of delivery times other UK buyers have had for the two methods though.

Hope some of this was vaguely useful,

cheers,

scipio

Hi shiwarrior, would have to agree with everyone else, it's your decision at the end of the day, but if you have your doubts then maybe make your first order a smaller one. Having said that I placed an order for 4 discs which I have recvd shipping confirmation from fivestar for, so should expect them within the next week (fingers crossed.
I've used ADDVN for about 24 discs in batches of 6 and never had one shipment stopped by customs, I do like the way they ship, it would be very hard for customs to spot a large order of 6 dics shipped by ADDVN.
I'll keep you informed with the order placed at 5star and what kind of packaging they use.

Good luck!

Thanks All for the posts :)
Yeah if u could please Stolt that be great , thanks.

I will consider all what you all have said, i will goto the other site and check there prices.
ill check those 2 sites after i comeback from London on Sataday. I'm going to try and get a deal :)
ive bought 1 before from London (a year before theve changed the BBFC guidlines and customs) and the price (if i rember correctlly ) was £15 or was it £20 ?
Anyway, depends what titles you are after, and the titles i want are all above $25 mark. (before shipping and tax)

Well , so how are they shipped ? if i wont get hit by customs less than fivestar at ordering say 4 titles a box then , sounds like a good ideas.
so how did u order from ADDN ? what shipment etc ?

Great news I recvd my order from 5star this morning, I'm very impressed, 6 days all the way from the USA. I can't praise them enough although saying that the main diffrenece betweeen 5star and ADDVN is that ADDVN shipped the discs in sleeves with the covers rather than ship the discs in the original cases, ADDVN then ship in a A4 and place the discs between two sheets of card,(very hard for customs to spot without actually opening them the package). 5star shipped all 4 discs with the boxes, but if your worried about customs heres something that might worry you, they declare the true value of the discs on the front of the package (in my case $47) so I must have been lucky this time, but if you order alot and customs do spot it you'll end up paying more with the vat & duty on top, so you may want to consider ADDVN if your going to make a large order. It's a shame to say it because I'm really impressed with 5 star and there prices are cheaper than ADDVN but the risk in my mind of customs coming across a package with say $100 worth of dvds inside is too much of a risk, if only they would not declare the true value. At the end of the day a very good service and delivery times are quicker than ADDVN, but will the declaration of value put many international customers off making large orders?
