Crappy lighting (way too dark), crappy direction, crappy editing. A typical feature scene is a criminally short affair with too many cuts and too many gyno-closeups.

I assume the folks involved are at the upper end of the industry pay scale. That's just grotesque.

How to fix this in the unlikely event that someone in a position to do so reads this and cares:

1: slow the fuck down! You are not Michael Bay, and this isn't fucking Hollywood. You produce material for men to masturbate to - give them time to masturbate! Three second cuts aren't long enough. Choose a good position, light it, and leave the camera there for a long, long, long time.

2: you have the best talent. Show it! use shots that show as much of the woman as possible. From six inches away, all pussies look the same. Ditch the gyno-closeups (especially when everyone's wearing condoms).

3: Use gonzo lighting.

4: tell your talent to stop acting during sex. They suck at it. If they didn't suck at it, they'd be doing something other than porn.

Does anyone actually watch features for plot, btw? I know I don't. If I want to watch a movie with a crappy plot, I'll go to Blockbuster.
