I just realized this - that male performers seem to either work in feature style videos or gonzo. The male names I see listed on Vivid and Wicked movies don't do much work for the gonzo studios. Is this based mostly on appearance? Pretty boys become feature studs? Is there a difference in pay rate for studs between the two porn genres?

Somebody tried to tell me that a guy named Nick Manning gets $1,000 or more per scene. True?

Hey, how's it going,

I've noticed this too.

There was a new girl named Michelle Michaels a while ago that I really liked. However, she has done interviews saying she loves doing features film and getting to act. Right now, I'm into gonzo (I'm bound to get burnt out on it eventually) so I haven't really followed her since then. Kayla Paige was another girl like that.

If you follow my line of thinking, maybe it comes down to actually acting. That's not to say that a lot of these gonzo guys can't act. Maybe they just don't want to or don't get the chance because feature directors consistently go with the males they know they can rely on.

I don't know. Those are just my observations. I'm sure someone like Erik Everhard or any other industry people around here would have better insight on the subject.

That's just my opinion and I could be wrong.

I noticed the trend too but cannot think of an explanation. I'm not sure it's about acting as I've seen some abysmal male acting in features, notably by Dale DaBone, whom I've never seen in a gonzo. Maybe features take too much time to shoot for a performer, and some of them would rather shoot 2 scenes a day and make twice the money on different wall-to-wall productions. Also the feature market looks like a little family, I mean just look at Wicked casts, always the same, and the studs feel at ease with women they know, and do not care to have sex with newbies. Or maybe they prefer to have protected sex & they know it just don't happen in gonzo.

Just as an opinion, I'd say it is a combination of a bunch of things including looks, acting, level of ability to perform, and the amount that the feature-movies girls like the guy.

Don't the contract actresses have a say which men they'll work with, or not work with? I thought I read this somewhere. Perhaps that's why you see the same guys a lot in features.

But, if you check iafd.com, you'll that some of the gonzo actors have done work for feature companies or their divisions occasionally. Erik Everhard has done a number of Jill Kelly films, and Ben English has done stuff for Legend.

I worked in both genres a lot. In my experience feature movies are not so demanding for the sex performance. You work there with a lot of cuts and breaks. On the other hand it you need more acting skills.

Personally I prefer Gonzo. The sex is more real and the scenes are much quicker. I can easily do two scenes a day (a few times 3) and make more money.

Some guys are just not strong enough to perform in Gonzo where you try to shoot the whole scene with ideally no cuts. Other just prefer the idea of being an "actor".

I personally never wanted to act. I started porn just because I wanted to bang as many cute chicks as possible. I only did features because when I've started there was more feature movies shot in Europe than Gonzo.
