| ken Member In Transit 72 Posts 5/00 | Posted - Jun 7 2000 : 5:05PM I think the price search for gay dvd is not working that great so normally I go to each site regularly to check a few titles that I am interested in. Bargain gay dvd are rare and most of the site do not even carry a lot of good ones. It's disappointing. Adult dvd Empire has the most complete selections for gay interest and add new ones regularly and frequently, but they have never had coupons or special sales for gay adult dvds. Occasionally you can catch some relative low price from them. I bought "Denube Dreams" at $24.99 when it got listed for the first 3 or 4 days. It turned out they made the mistake on the list price, so they changed it back to $39.99 immediately. Well that's the only time I took the advantage. But if you want to pay a bit more, here are some of my find: "Hotel Italia" $39.99 in Empire just listed. This is from the same Italian director Lukas Karzan. He made "Journey to Italy", I like his movie. While "Journey to Italy" released by Odyssey costs $49.99, the "Hotel Italia" released by Oh Man studio is $10 cheaper. I am thinking about getting it though it's still kind of pricy. "Hot Times in Little Havana" and "ManWatcher" 2 Pac is $84.99 in TLA video. Any order over $75.00 shipping is free, so it's 42.50 a piece. For Bjorn dvds, it's not too bad. They are normally $49.99+ shipping as the cheapest. "Mansized" and "Raging River" by director Matt Sterling is $44.99 a piece in TLA. Most of the other sites are $49.99 to $59.99. All in all they are still expensive. We just hope that Atomic will release more new titles and we can get them from the site sponsors here. I just learned that "Cuffed" from studio 2000 is released by Atomic and is $49.99 in TLA. Maybe we should write to our sites sponsors to ask them add this title into their product list so that we can get it sooner at $35.99 to $37.99 range. I normally go to TLAvideo, AdultEmpire and Gaymagix.com to look for the newest release for gay titles. Oops, too long. Till next time. [Link] |

I would like to track down any bugs and correct them. Steph pointed out that we had a couple of gay titles that appeared when you would do a title search but if you clicked the title for get to the pricing detail page it would say "not currently available from any stores in the price search". I have fixed this problem. It occurred because we have a few stores that used to participate in the price search but are no longer in it. The titles are still in our database but the store's pricing data is no longer there. I have changed the search query to only include title search results for the current crop of stores. BTW, the price search doesn't know if a title is gay/straight/classic/gonzo, etc. It just matches up text patterns. If you think there mught be other bugs please let me know. I use the price search all day long almost every day and therefore am a little to close to it to pick up on things that other users may find. [Link] |
| ken Member In Transit 72 Posts 5/00 | Posted - Jun 8 2000 : 11:13AM Drew, I don't think there are any bugs in your search engine, I just realized that not all stores having ads in this site participated in Price Search, therefore some better prices could not be shown or some titles are not found. Most of the price search participants do not carry high end gay titles, therefore limiting the search scopes. Again we as users should be more actively involved in petitioning individual stores to join the search forum and adding the real good titles into their product list. One little thing, for the price search by title, it seems to me you have to type in the exact title name, is there any way to relax the criteria so that in some cases, you can type part of the name and some sort of wild card characters so it bring in more results? Just a thought, thank you for the response and I am sure as a user, we all really appreciate that. Ken [Link] |

Adult DVD Talk at your service. 6409 Posts 11/99 | Posted - Jun 8 2000 : 12:06PM part of the reason the stores don't snatch up every high-end gay DVD is that then they're stuck with really expensive inventory if they can't sell it. the prices on the titles do reflect the higher prices that the stores pay. so, yes, the vocal customer will get what they want as far as the price search - i always use partial titles - they work best. but like most search engines they have to be consecutive. for instance you can't type "comrad arms" because those words aren't consecutive in the title. but you can just type "comr" or even "in arm". we're about to add a search by category - which should make things a heck of a lot easier. thanks so much for your feedback - it really helps us.
