Frederick's sells classic, well-made stuff, with a lot of variety to choose from. If you can, you're best off going to a brick-and-mortar store, because the sales clerks have good suggestions and they're particularly helpful with regard to sizing. I've purchased several gifts there for my wife, and she always likes them. Is there a particular kind of lingerie that you're looking for? Can you say what it is about the above-mentioned stores that you're seeking an alternative to? Anyway, a lot of women swear by Agent Provocateur. Another option is Trashy Lingerie. [Link] |

I'm in there one road trip, and amongst the pecan logs, CAT Diesal hats, fake turqouise jewelery, fossilized burritos, "I'm With Stupid" t-shirts, truckdriver bedpans and other assorted truckstop paraphenalia, there was a rack of ladies underthings that included bustiers, rompers, and babydolls. And oh yeah, garters in a bag. And most of this stuff was in large and extra large sizes. (Or maybe that was all they had left after a run on the petite sizes.) As I looked at this, incredulous, the only thing I could think was, "God Bless America". And I wondered just what the circumstances must have been, for that necessity to come up on the road.
