I'm kinda sad to see it go. But I have to admit I like those kind of movies better back when the Scream Queens did them instead of the porn girls of today. The ones the porn girls do go farther with what the softcore sex they show and how much the girls will do but in the days of Shannon Tweed, Julie Strain, Tane McClure, etc., The actual movies were much better written and the acting was much better. Plus, today's softcore movies seem to use the same 4 or 5 porn girls over and over again it get boring fairly quickly. Besides, why watch Nicole Sherridan pretend to have sex when it's so easy to see her have actual sex? At lease most of the Scream Queens left something to the imagination.
I think the softcore movies would do well again if they went back to showing the softcore from other countries, and the softcore from the B-actresses like they did in the 80s and early 90s.

Lot of good times on Skinemax...Young Lady Chatterly was the first time I jerked off to a movie. Another good one was Plan 69 from Outer Space. I loved Young Lady Chatterly so much I even shoplifted it from Blockbuster way back when, but it was EDITED!! How the fuck do you edit soft-core for content? Glad they went out of business.
I even saw one where the story itself was so good I actually watched it just for that. It starred James Spader and I forget the girl, but it was one of the more famous soft core actresses. I think it was called "Dream Lover".
There's a great documentary on Netflix instant called Popatopolis about one of the top directors in the genre. You aught to check it out. Here's the synopsis....
"Popatopolis follows veteran B-movie auteur Jim Wynorski as he attempts to produce the soft-core film The Witches of Breastwick on a three-day shoot. Working with a tight budget, he focuses on his filmmaking philosophy: "A Big Chase and a Big Chest."

So, if this is no longer part of Cinemax, then, is there actually a reason to subscribe to Cinemax? It's not like they have top notch original programming or first run blockbusters that hit cable.

An interesting discussion on this would be what affect this is going to have on the bigger budget features that were being produced with the plan of a softcore version being released first. Do these movies now have a market for sale in this form? Will this end the thought of this style feature being produced?

Cinemax was far from the only outlet for softcore porn, it's just one of the more famous ones in the US. So, to answer your question, Flash, I doubt it will have much influence.

I'll miss the laughs. Especially the unintentional ones. Damn those movies were so horrible.
