I have a simple yet kinda heavy question, do porn actress like the term whore or slut or bitches. I often wondered this because man porn films use this terms in their titles. Like "A cum gurguling whore named...(fill in your favorite pornstars name)

Scott fayner a brilliant fucking writer at lukeford.com and my personal hero for having his crooked cocked smoked on a nightly basis by taylor rain, uses the term whore and slut often.

So my question is do you find these terms offensive or degrading?

Speculating here:
Wouldn't some find it degrading or offensive to be called "girls" when they are in fact women? Kind of like a white man calling a black man "boy". Especially when there are terms like "porn star(let)" around.

Croy, the term 'girl' seems to be particicularly non-PC in US. In UK there have been heated discussions on radio programmes about the use of the word with European women having no problem with it. In fact, many women in UK/Europe are flattered when they are called girls. Seems that US usage of the word is different.

I think most people use the word Girl when talking about women. I also think that men use the term Woman when trying to snag one. Well that's my thought on it.

Clive-

From what I have heard from this forum and from interviews I think porn acresses prefer slut, but that's just from what I have come across.

I think calling women girl (while possibly offensive) is not nearly as bad as calling black men boy. It has to do with what the term implies, the situation and the context. Girl implies a youthful appearance, not insulting unless the female in question is more concerned with authority or status. It is like saying someone is pretty is not offensive, but saying they are ugly is, even though both are (possibly truthful) opinions on appearance. I define slut and whore as follows.
Slut: Person who enjoys sex somewhat frequently.
Whore: Person who enjoys sex and receives compensation for their participation.
Neither are inherently offensive but I someone used them frequently I would attempt to tell if they were using the words with negative connotations.
Things also get confused because we are talking about porn speak were nothing means exactly the same thing as it does in everyday conversation. For instance in porn speak 25 year olds are young teens and interracial means black man white woman. In this context slut and whore also have different meaning.
As far as titles I think it is thought that titles as mentioned above sell better than something like Nice Ladies Who Enjoy Intercourse and Contact with Semen. They are certainly more eye catching and shocking. Thus it is a business decision. I would be curious though what the actual effect on sales is.

slut and whore and skank are used because debutante and priss just seem wrong in describing someone who performs sexual acts on film. i mean no disrespect in using these terms, really. and pretty much all the porn gals i know fully admit to being whores and sluts and skanks. well maybe not skanks...

Here's a scene from porno-land:

"Director-So, were you a slut today or a whore?

Girl-Hmmm. Whore, because I'm getting paid.

Director-You're a Cum-Drinking Whore?

Girl-Uh-huh. [mocking the director's stupid question] "I am a cum-drinking whore."

Director-No, you're not because you didn't drink it.

Girl-[laughs]Oh, yeah. So I'm not. Now, here's the thing. If I was a slut I would be doing this without getting paid. But I'm a whore because I'm getting paid. I'm a prostitute .[laughs] Technically, that is what I would be considered."

This comes from an Anabolic scene. It plays during the credits of the tape right after the girl has taken a facial from Erik Everhard after anal sex.

This thread made me think of it. Personally, I refrain from referring to these women as whores or sluts. I'm too timid a guy for that. However, I have seen or heard them refer to themselves as such plenty.

This could develop into a large sociological discussion about the labels placed upon women who dare to enjoy sex. I don't know. I've said my piece.

It already has. I'm too lazy to go looking for it, but there was a large heated thread about it last year.

I think the words whore and slut do hurt the porn girls feelings but they would never let on .

If these girls choose to refer to themselves as whores or sluts, thus beating others who disapprove of their chosen profession, aren't they then taking some bite out of a phrase usually thrown at them in a derogatory manner? I believe that is known as empowerment/disempowerment, empowering them while disempowering those who use such phrases against them.

Well, it really wasn't my intent to hi-jack this thread. I just thought that it contained a more basic question - if the question was not meant to insult, then why not take more care in the wording?
Also, you never answered the original question, do you find the term "slut" or "whore" degrading or offensive?

While a woman using those terms may to some extent take away the power of words from others, it doesn't mean that they approve.

I personally don't refer to women as sluts or whores, not because of timidity, but because I just don't dislike a stranger enough (usually) to use an offensive term for no reason.

"While a woman using those terms may to some extent take away the power of words from others, it doesn't mean that they approve."

Clearly. That's why we have no right to refer to them as such just because they might use that very word to refer to themselves. When I said I was too timid I meant that I did not want to hurt anyone's feelings and just generally do not use the words "whore" or "slut". Though now that I look up the definition of "timid" I realize that was probably the wrong word to use.

Remember that "scene from pornoland" I posted earlier? Well, the girl in that scenee was right when she referred to herself as a whore and then said that she would technically be considered a prostitute.

Websters:
Whore: n. a prostitute
(Prostitue: one who engages in sexual acts for money)

Slut: n. 1. slovenly women. 2. a sexually immoral woman.

We are not talking connotations or what society has attached to these labels. From a mere definition standpoint, this is what they mean.

The word "whore" describes a profession. There is no inherent bias in its definition.

The word "slut" is making a definite value judgement.

I try not to use words like whore and skank for any reasons. Some girls are ok with slut, but I don't use it very often either. Those words get thrown around pretty easy in porn. I don't think the guys mean to be degrading when they say stuff like that. Unfortunately for the girls in porn who hate it,it's one of the things that comes with the territory when you make a living having sex.

"Unfortunately for the girls in porn who hate it,it's one of the things that comes with the territory when you make a living having sex."

So true. Vince Vouyer is a guy who seems to love showering such crap onto girls. In the BTS of "Vouyer Vision", Jade Hsu goes off on a rant because she was sick of him and guys like him calling her slut or skank during scenes and on-set. He didn't seem to care to the point that he laughed during all of it.

It is so common and most of these guys behind the camera and in front of the camera have been around for SO LONG that it probably does not occur to them anymore that some girls may find it offensive.

I'm probably being too sensitive. I don't know that the actual girls care as much as I seem to think they might, which is why I should just shut up and wait to see what the actual female performers in addition to Tricia think if they choose to grace this thread.

I didn't answer because I discussed it more than I cared too the last time around.

And since my search function for this site doesn't seem to be working, I couldn't post a link to my original answers.

Simple answer (and hopefully someone can find the old thread about the CSW Named movie and the big 'discussion' about it):
I don't like those words like slut or whore or bitch. To me, cunt is absolutely unacceptable. Even though they perhaps accurately describe a porn girl and the actions she does, they are fairly univerally accepted as degrading words.
Even though whore, prostitute and porn girl sound like they should be interchangable, I take them as each having a subtle difference in meaning. I've always thought of prostitutes (and I guess whores (I don't know, I NEVER use that word unless I really, really despise the person) as accepting money for sex, with the detail that they are on the one side of the situation that is accepting money. Porn people, on the other hand, are in a situation where everyone involved is accepting money on some level. I know it seems like a tiny difference to some people, but to me, it made all the difference in the world. I loved being in porn, but I was never able to put myself in a situation where I was the only person involved who was receiving payment.
OK - so that wasn't so short. Wish I could have found the other thread.

Girl, on the other hand, doesn't bother me personally. I like to imagine that I still look and act young enough for a person to feel comfortable calling me a girl. It seems like it's OK here in the US. People say "Hey girls!" just like they do "Hey guys!".

this is a VERY confusing topic these days because many of the girls themselves are now referring to themselves and other girls as 'whore''slut''bitch' - much in the way black people now call each other 'nigga'. The whole culture is speeding out of control towards i don't know where. I just feel bad for the girls who are offended by those terms who have to go along with this stuff if they want to work in this biz for the gonzo companies.

there are two kinds of men in the adult industry - those who love/worship women and those who hate them. which camp has more? doesn't take much brains to figure that one out.

go look at porn from 15 years ago, it's pretty shocking to see how far things have deteriorated. Somebody with twisted logic would say it's a sign of womens empowerment that they can now proudly call themselves cum drinking whores without shame. only people who spend their lives knee deep in porn, producing or watching it, would say such a thing.

Wow...that other thread was just disturbing to read. At the end it was safer because it started getting into a quasi-philosophical debate, but there were some disturbing posts in there.
I also had this really long post typed out before I realized - clive don't care about my opinion, he's asking the actresses Although I wish we could get feedback from more than one girl than Tricia (whose feedback is always welcome!), I theorize that most girls would dislike those terms. While -some- of them may actually enjoy use of "slut" or "whore" in a scene, just as one could find it exciting to say or hear "fuck me harder" during sex, it should be no more acceptable to call someone those terms outside of the scene than it is to say "fuck you" to someone. My personal opinion of male actors and/or directors who use that kind of language during a scene shall go unvoiced, 'cause it's all off topic and stuff.

i'ts just not my thing to call women bitches, whores etc..It's really fucking rude and appears as a power trip, when guys do it.

I can understand being playful or being in the moment, but the anabolic scene that was quoted sounded just creepy.

If a female chooses to refer to herself as "slut" etc. that is up to them.

just as if someone were to call me "tonto" or "chief" i probably wouldn't be very happy, but i have self mockingly refered to myself as a redskin. (well actually it's honey-beige skin, but that is beside the point)

as for the women/girl thing. i usually aim for "girl" just because some people are kinda iffy of the age thing. but i don't put too much into that one.

And then you have to know that some disturbing posts have been deleted.
Come to think of it, so have some "quasi-philosophical" posts. Reading the thread again, I was surprised that I didn't contribute to it after page 4 or so. I could have sworn that I didn't keep my mouth shut later in the thread...

Memories, ah... If my memory serves me well, that thread is kinda an ADT legend. Isn't it fair to say that it was the birth place of XXXporntalk?

Yeah, to the point that I didn't even want to type it in my earlier posts, even though I would have just been defining it like I did with "whore" and "slut."

I was talking to my girlfriend about this the other day and she said that in her opinion cunt was the most offensive word. Of course, she could say it but I better not dare say it unless I want to be neutered.

This is the life we choose and the vocabulary is part of the business so if the girls cannot handle it then they shouldn't be doing porn. We are all labeled as Sluts,Cunts,Whores and Bitches and I'm fine with that I know who I am and it's what we do we are not angels you know.

Jewel - I loved what I was doing and what I still do.

But if I say that I feel a certain reference makes me feel uncomfortable I would hope that any reasonable human being would have the manners to not use that term around me, and especially to describe me.

I took money for sex in situations where I was comfortable. And I had a great time doing it. But I still think enough of myself to know that I can help shape how others think of me.
Porn only becomes degrading to women if the women in it let themselves be degraded and thought of as nothing but fucktoys.

For better or worse, it's one of the reasons I didn't do well at dirty talk in scenes. It is not a part of my everyday vocabulary. I was more than happy to be a part of the visual scenario, because I could help shape into something that included my personality, but a word is a word, and some words aren't helped by the context they are placed in.

I disagree. Just as there have been many debates here on ADT about things such as, if a girl isn't going to do guys, anal, whatever... she should get out of porn, I disagreed then. Porn girls can choose to express their sexuality however they choose. If they have enough fans who like how they express themselves, then they will be able to keep getting hired for more scenes. Some girls do well looking slutty. Some girls would look ridiculous trying to look slutty, but do fine for themselves looking like the girl-next-door who likes to fuck.

I agree. I also think if you're a female and you choose to have a career in porn, you damn well better have a thick skin. You can't run off crying everytime someone calls you a whore. If you know who are that's all that really matters. It's unfortunate but those kinds of offensive statements are here to stay and to be frank there's nothing that can be done about it.

That's my look on it but then again I just really don't care what you call me I'll be laughing all the way to the bank. I'm secure with who I am and I know once you're in porn there is no Denying (sorry for the pun) that you are a labeled girl and who cares anyway us girls get paid enough in this industry a little name calling shouldn't offend them if it does then why are you spreading your legs for a living you slut!

I fully agree as far as we talk about inside business vocabulary. Every job and business creates an own insider talk. To outsiders some terms might sound rude, but actually they are just not meant like that. In the same vain the famous A Cum Sucking Whore Named XY and all the sluts, whores, bitches etc we meet on video covers are just a marketing trick. And nothing to get upset about at all, I think.

Another thing is us porn fans talking about the girls. We are usually not business insiders, but outsiders. As an outsider it would never cross my mind to call a girl whore. I think porn fans should be the first ones to accept that porn actress is just an entertainment job -just as film director, cutter, banker or prostitute is just a job, too.
I am far from dispising somebody who does provide me with a performance without I cannot immagine my daily life.

At the same time, I really do approve of even dirtier box covers and more dirty talk in porn films. It just turns me on too much.

Ah, xxxporntalk.com - where porn women are routinely called whores and sluts. But that's not all. The few times I've visited that site, the guys who post there will also call male performers they dislike "whores" because, well, these actors have the audacity to perform sex acts before a camera, and get paid for it.

These posts get pretty ugly, and they don't use the word 'whore' like it's a compliment.

I suppose we could start a thread where male performers are asked if they mind if they're called 'whores'. Three of the men who've been on the receiving end of these epithets on xxxporntalk.com routinely post here on ADT, so they likely have an opinion about all this.
