this article covers the waterfront, as it were, as to the state of fukk flicks right now. checked other forums to see if this has been posted, didn't see anything, so I think this is appropriately placed here. I'm going to message Random Precision or whomever gets the message mod notes to that end now.

Gore Gore Girl posted this in Carter Cruise's thread because Carter is such a big focus of the article, but I think it deserves a thread of its own. As I said in that thread, I think Carter comes across wonderfully. She's one of the most articulate and self-assured advocates for porn today. Putting stars like her and Casey Calvert out there front and center can only help improve the image of the industry. They dispel a lot of the hoary stereotypes that exist about pornstars. I really liked what she said here:
Amen. As a fan of gonzo porn and a feminist it took me a long time to accept that fact. I used to think I was a hypocrite. How could I believe in equality and yet take pleasure watching women perform such rough, nasty sex scenes? But I've come to realize that my sexuality is just one aspect of myself and not the defining one. This article makes the point more eloquently:
Enough of that tangent...
It was also refreshing to read an article about porn from a mainstream publication that wasn't rife with the usual knee-jerk caveats about industry abuses or moralistic hand-wringing over whether watching porn makes you a bad human being. Even writers who are ostensibly pro-porn usually couch their support in very equivocal language for fear of being labeled as misogynistic pervs. I guess that's not too much of an issue for the author since she's a woman.

I was asked to take photos for a Disney/ABC feature on Carter, and I was puzzled out of my mind until I saw the article today since Disney owns ESPN/Grantland.

It's a really good article, with my only wish being that she hadn't gotten so starstruck and maybe asked a few more questions (or possibly harder ones) of James and Carter.

I am a little perplexed that the author thinks porn began in San Fernando valley in the early 1970s. Her citation is an article about PT Anderson. Boogie Nights, aside from being a fictional film, was set in the late-1970s. Regardless, the article was refreshing in its openness, honesty, and willingness to let the show and people speaks for themselves to a large degree. Lambert also takes her time - I have been enjoying super lengthy, meditative journalism lately. This falls into that category nicely.
