I get that. But there is a rule I live by; does it need to be said and does it need to be said by me. If I ask myself this question before I make a statement, that may or may not hurt someone, the answer is usually no. Here in good old California, if you tell any employee that they are too fat, too skinny, look nice today, or anything that is considered personal, you will be looking at a big fat lawsuit for harassment, and they will usually win. Ask Larry Flynt. He has lost or settled on a bunch of them. I won't say who, but a boss told an employee she is too old and fat for anyone else to hire her, she sued and got 2.5 million dollars.

In Ca. harassment of any kind is taken very seriously, sexual or otherwise. An employee is not going to settle for a letter of apology if she can get a letter with a fat check in it. You literally cannot say to a female employee "Geez I love what you are wearing today." That can be construed as sexual harassment. Forget about saying, Gee, your pussy smells terrific. Just kidding.

and that's why Cali sucks a fat one...regardless though, Raylene looks better than ever and should continue to work since I'm sure she can still make great movies...

I have lived all over this country, from new york to california, and many places in between. California has it's problems, but is without a doubt one of the most beautiful states in the Union. Where do you live? I am dying to hear this answer.

lol I grew up in southern Cali, moved to Vegas for 15 years and now live on the coast of Oregon... but back to Raylene, I'd like her to shoot with Belladonna or another director at Evil Angel...would be fun to see how something like that would turn out...

living in a small town on the coast of Oregon is like living in fucking Mayberry lol... has anyone watched the scene with Raylene and Jessi Palmer? I saw pics from it and it looked stunning...
I guess everyone has different experiences. I have worked with Greg three times and all three were good experiences, and he was nice. And obviously I don't fit into the "teen" category, I am curvy myself. I don't know Raylene personally but I think it's sad that she would let one person decide the fate of of her career. Hopefully she changes her mind. Rejection is part of the game, not everyone is going to find you attractive or want to cast you, and you have to be thick skinned about it. I have gotten hate emails and comments about being ugly etc and you can't let it get to you. We are in the business of pleasure and satisfying fantasies, you can't appeal to everyone, and all girls should accept that or they will forever be miserable in their own skin.

I get what your saying, and in a perfect world it would be ideal. Words can hurt though, no matter how thick-skinned anyone is. I just think everyone has different trigger-points when it comes to them though. I will say that I think there is a difference between a comment coming from an anonymous internet poster, than one coming from someone who may be considered a peer or co-worker. As for Greg, well he and Raylene are probably the only two who really know what was or wasn't said. I suspect his version would be slightly different. I will say this though, your dealings with Greg none-the-less, if he did say those exact things to her, he's an idiot IMO. Professionals should always conduct themselves in a professional manner, unless properly provoked.

I'm just wondering what type of fantasy world people live in where they think that porn directors are all supposed to be Mr. Nice Guys. This is porn, not kindergarten. If you don't want people criticizing your looks, then don't work in an industry that's solely based on physical appearance. It's that simple.

It doesn't matter what business you are in, you don't have to be a dick. To generalize and say porn directors are typically assholes is a very misguided statement. Or to say that is ok for them to be dicks is also short sighted. I know a lot of directors, and the majority of them are really great guys or gals. They treat the talent with respect and that is how to get the best performance out of them. In my world, you get what you give. Treat me good, I'll treat you better, treat me bad, I'll treat you worse. Being a porn director is not a license to be an asshole. If you are hired for a porn shoot that means they liked you, you got the job. If you are being ridiculed after that, walk.

American Idol is a great example. Take Simon Cowell, for instance. He is referred to as "the mean judge." But actually, he is just brutally honest. His criticism of the contestants may sometimes sound tactless or callous. But this is exactly the type of criticism these people need to hear if they want to achieve the levels of stardom that they're seeking. If they can't sing and are only making fools of themselves, then somebody needs to tell them that in plain language that they can understand. The same goes for any sector of the entertainment industry, including porn. Like I wrote in a previous post, mainstream models, actors, and actresses get criticized for their looks all the time. They are constantly told to make changes to their appearance. And the people telling them this are not always polite about it either. Maybe this being a porn forum is the reason people think that pornstars should be handled with kid gloves. Really, it's just unreasonable and unrealistic.
Oh this is getting ridiculous now. It's horrible that this guy calls a Raylene "fat" and people in the biz shouldn't talk or treat each other badly but it's okay to call this guy a "dick" or "asshole"? Just because you feel bad for Raylene doesn't mean she's not over-reacting or Greg Lansky is scum of the earth. If that guy ever becomes associated with VIVID is he still going to be an "asshole" to you? It's very possible he treats the girls he actually works with just fine (as the girl who actually worked for him posted). "Fat" isn't really high on the list of horrible things you can call a person. Raylene probably went to the guy looking for a gig and the guy probably just casually said something along the lines of "Sorry but you're too fat for the type of girls I usually work with.." or something along those lines that he's said dozens of times before and most girls probably didn't like hearing it but were able to move on without being torn up about it. I'm sure this Greg guy didn't say it with the intention of being evil or destroying Raylene. I'd be willing to bet he's wondering what the big deal is. On the other side of this discussion he have a pornstar who is so fragile she's ready to quit the biz over a off handed comment. How can that not strike people as incredibly odd? I can see a girl wanting to quit because she was mistreated on the set or was forced to do things she didn't want to. But because of a guy she probably didn't know or ever worked with said she was "fat"? Is there a word anyone can throw at you that would make you quit your job? Is "fat" a word known to cause pornstars to quit porn? I don't think Raylene is fat but I think her reaction to what was said is over the top. Some of you are trying to make her a victim because she heard something that upset her I say that fact that something like this upset her to the point of wanting to quit is more disturbing than an unkind remark from someone in the porn biz. If every girl in porn was this easily rattled I'd imagine there'd on be about a doazen or so girls in porn.

It's called Show Business, not Show Friendship. Bottom line is if talent isn't selling the product, changes need to be made. Girls must get told all the time in porn their tits are too small, as it seems that sooner or later the career girls get them done. Maybe this guy was or wasn't a douche, but there is 3 sides to every story; his, hers, and what really happened. As far as Simon being the Mean Judge, everybody always says that, but if you listen to what he is actually saying a lot of time beyond the "you stink" type of comments, he does know what he's talking about. Simon is great for knowing exactly what will and will not sell to the American Public. He's been doing it for 10 years know and gets paid about $100 million a year to do it. He's so good at what he does, that I'm sure if a porn company used him as a super secret consultant, where anonimity is guaranteed, the company would move right to the front of the porn community. Not only that, he puts his money where is mouth is to support his causes and he does so to support them, not for the "Look at what I'm doing" press.
It is, what it is. People will react how they react. This idea that everybody has to grin-and-bear-it no matter what is said to them, is hardly realistic. Prisons are a perfect example of people not always turning-the-other-cheek...well so to speak. Someone overreacting so someone elses words, doesn't negate that someone elses behavior. As for American Idol, well I've never approved of that show, or Simon Cowell's caulous comments that came with it. Far as I know, porn is not a competition.
I can say the same thing for the other side of the discussion... It is, what it is. People will say things others don't like. This idea that everybody has to be nice/PC to others, is hardly realistic. Someone saying something negative to someone else doesn't negate that someone else is overreacting to what was said. Your example of people being in prison because of some people's reaction simply drive hope the point that over the top reactions aren't considered the normal reaction. I'm not saying What the guy said was cool and I'm not saying Raylene should be happy to hear it but I don't think it's fair to just see one side of this and jump all over the guy when his behavior isn't anything out of the ordinary while Raylene's reaction to it is a bit extreme all things considered.

American Idol isn't reality by any stretch of the imagination, that is all set up and those so called clunkers are there for Simons rantings. There is always a way to say fuck you with a smile. The models, actors and actresses you talk about getting criticized are not criticized by the people they are working for. No director will tell Pacino, Al you suck, you look terrible, did you gain 50 lbs.? You seem to want to make justifications for when it is all right to be an asshole. Makes no sense.

First of all, I did not call him a dick or an asshole. I was, if you read my post, speaking in general terms. No where did i write Greg is an asshole. Second you don't know what he said, you are just assuming what you think he may have said. Third, I don't think Raylene is so fragile that this one incident is making her thinking of leaving. Lastly, her reaction was anything but over the top, she never brought this up, an out raged reporter did and Raylene didn't what to even discuss it. She never fingered this guy, and wouldn't say a thing about him, if you read the entire thread, you would know that. My point has always been, basically, treat people the way you would want to be treated, aka the golden rule.
