If we are to believe Hadley and other LA Direct models then Derek, the owner of a modeling agency who makes his money from booking models, regularly accepts bookings for some of his models knowing that he will never tell them about the bookings. Thereby not only pissing off and possibly alienating the producers who booked those models but also pissing off the models themselves which in turn will make them less likely to want to work for LA Direct as well as make them even more vocal detractors of LA Direct. Let's also not forget that if what Hadley has said is true then Derek not only makes no money from her lost bookings but actually loses some when he has to pay the kill fee the producer will definitely ask for. Now do I believe that Derek can be a complete dick and play hardball with some of his models when he feels rightly or wrongly that they should work when he wants them to even though they don't feel like it. I believe he can be a dick. The question is. Is he being a dick because he knows better than the model that their shelf life is short and they better accept as many booking as they can early on because 6 months from now they will be on a bus going back home because porn was not what they thought it would be and living in LA is a lot more expensive than back home. If he were to set a girl up like this he would probably choose an offer for a regular gonzo scene in a cheap place, as opposed to a large production scene with planned themes, costumes, expensive location etc. Also, this agency regularly gets multiple models booked for one shoot. I would imagine that the damage wouldn't be big if Hadley "no-shows" and they change the shoot to a B/G at the spot because the other performer was present. Remember, all it takes is one or two of the no-shows and all the producers get word of it and she's done. It's not like Derek needs to pay 10 kill fees. Basicely if you look at the amount of power this guy has and how he can set it up, it really isn't hard to believe that he can screw up a performer's career with these tactics. Is it true? I don't know but where there's smoke there's fire. There's a lot of stories about him. [Link]

If you consider that the agent makes at least 10% of what the performer earns than instead of making 100$. He looses from 250$ to 500$(don't forget kill fees are paid by the agent). Now granted Derek might play the old bait and switch with the producer and have a girl ready to take Hadley's place and this way he doesn't have to pay the kill fee because the producer gets a girl to shoot his video but how long do you think producers would book girls through an agency that keeps changing the girl they wanted? Of course agents have a lot of power. It's the same thing in the mainstream entertainment industry. Not every agency is the same and not every agent is the same. There is fierce competition and some stars have an advantage over their counterpart if they happen to have a better agent. Same thing in porn except that the agents in many ways have even more power because they know the game far better than most performers. I would also like to point out that if you visit LA Direct than you will see that Hadley is on their main page. Would an agent looking to screw with a performer really bother doing that? [Link]
